Summary

We are seeking a diligent Family Law Clerk to join our team in Port Hope, ON. This role offers an exciting opportunity to support our family law practice and contribute to meaningful legal work that makes a difference in clients' lives. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented and passionate about family law and also have experience is dealing with business incorporation and related matters.

Responsibilities

  • Perform clerical duties, including data entry and file management.
  • Assist in legal drafting and preparation of documents.
  • Manage project timelines and assist with case management tasks.
  • Maintain professional phone etiquette, regular contact while communicating with clients, court staff and stakeholders.
  • Support attorneys during interviews and client meetings and court procedures as needed.
  • Drafting, filing, coordinating, managing, organizing and review of client and court documents.
  • Attending with clients to prepare review, revise and execute documents.
  • Drafting invoices and letters to clients.
  • Other general office duties.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in clerical or administrative roles, within a law firm.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, legal drafting skills along with Strong research and analysis skills.
  • Familiarity with legal drafting processes and family law procedures is a must.
  • Proficiency with LexisNexis, Westlaw, Divorce Mate and other legal research tools
  • Strong proficiency in data entry and document management systems.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Diploma, Degree or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to maintain discretion and professionalism when handling confidential information and sensitive issues
