Project Summary

The Government of Alberta (GoA) – Collaboration and Content Services (CCS) is undertaking a large-scale SharePoint 2016 migration to SharePoint Online. The initiative requires an experienced
IT Technical Business Analyst
to support migration and content services, gather business requirements, define information architecture, and help drive modernization initiatives involving SharePoint and the Microsoft Power Platform.

The project includes transitioning legacy SharePoint environments (InfoPath, Nintex, Designer workflows) to fully modernized Microsoft 365 solutions using SharePoint Online, Power Apps, and Power Automate.

Role Overview

Reporting to the Senior IMT Business Analyst Lead, the
IT Technical Business Analyst
will be responsible for providing information management and technical/operational support across CCS-supported environments. The role involves close collaboration with business units and IT teams to ensure smooth migration, high-quality delivery, and alignment with departmental and corporate policies.

The ideal candidate is analytical, highly communicative, customer-service oriented, and comfortable working both independently and within cross-functional teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support, coordinate, and engage stakeholders across all CCS-supported systems and services.
  • Analyze IMT impacts across departments related to reorganizations, program transfers, or personnel/resource shifts.
  • Lead stakeholder consultations and facilitate workshops with business & technical teams.
  • Develop business requirements, functional specs, and technical design documents.
  • Create and maintain project/service documentation, plans, and status reporting.
  • Manage and escalate risks/issues with recommended mitigation options.
  • Ensure deliverables meet scope, quality, schedule, and IMT operational standards.
  • Contribute to proof-of-concept initiatives and limited production rollouts.
  • Perform quality control and validation on production implementations.
  • Provide technical recommendations and guidance on operational impacts.
  • Review new service or technology requests and assess operational fit and risk.
  • Communicate operational guidelines, policies, and best practices to business areas.
