About the role:

ETRO Construction is seeking an Accounts Payable Clerk: to join our Accounting team. This position supports the department with invoice processing, data entry, and administrative tasks that ensure accuracy and efficiency in all accounts payable functions. The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail, a proactive mindset, and foundational experience in accounting, bookkeeping, or finance-related administration.

What you'll do:

  • Prepare and process batches of invoices for data entry in accounting software (e.g., CMiC).
  • Verify and code invoices with accurate GL information and ensure timely payments.
  • Reconcile vendor statements and resolve any discrepancies.
  • Manage payments via cheques, EFTs, and wire transfers, ensuring on-time completion.
  • Maintain accurate and organized records of invoices, receipts, and payments.
  • Communicate with vendors and subcontractors to address inquiries and documentation issues.
  • Review and verify compliance documentation (e.g., insurance, WCB, statutory declarations).
  • Assist with month-end reconciliations, accruals, and prepayments.
  • Support the accounting team with administrative tasks, including digital file management and data organization.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers to track expenses, progress billings, and contract documents.

What you bring:

  • Experience: 1-2 years of experience in data entry or administrative roles (construction accounting experience is an asset).
  • Education: Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration (preferred).
  • Technical: Proficiency with MS Office, Google Workspace, and accounting software (CMiC experience an asset).
  • Skills: Strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Attributes: Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in data entry; professional verbal and written communication skills; adaptability to work in a digital, paper-free environment.
