The Alberta Emergency Management Agency (AEMA), under the authority of the Emergency Management Act, leads the coordination and co-operation of all organizations involved in emergencies and disasters. This includes emergency and disaster prevention, preparedness, response, and recovery.

The Alberta Emergency Management Agency (AEMA) is accountable and responsible to the GoA, to Albertans, to their communities, and to industry for the protection of people, their property, and the environment from the effects of emergency events. Alberta relies on a decentralized "system" for managing the various types of emergency events that occur every year. The AEMA accomplishes its objectives by leading the co-ordination, collaboration and co-operation between all entities involved in prevention, preparedness, response, and recovery activities within this diverse system.

*Role Responsibilities*
The Recovery Branch assists residential, private small business, and public entities recover from damage caused by a disaster or emergency event by administering disaster financial assistance programs. As part of the Business Operational Supports in the Recovery Branch, you will be part of a team that contributes to the development and maintenance of business tools and processes for multiple assigned projects and ad hoc requests that support and enhance the work of the Recovery Branch.

The Training and Change Management Analysts: Training and Change Management specifically leads in developing and coordinating the branch's training and change management plans, activities and deliverables. They will work collaboratively to improve and modernize the way training is developed, maintained, delivered and evaluated in the Recovery Branch as well as act as change management leads in larger initiatives.

Specific Duties Include

  • Develop and maintain branch training plans and frameworks
  • Work with business areas to clearly define and document training requirements for all roles and functions
  • Develop, maintain, and deliver existing training material in collaboration with functional subject matter experts.
  • Implement reporting and evaluation activities for training
  • Develop and execute plans to modernize and improve organizational knowledge management and succession planning
  • Take lead in planning and executing change management on project teams

Additionally, the general duties of Training and Change Management Analysts are:

  • Provide business analysis services to Recovery Branch staff at all levels to identify and help address a wide variety of needs related to Recovery projects and day-to-day business processes.
  • Support or cover on other projects led by the team in the event of absence or other capacity constraints.
  • Provide support to internal and external projects in accordance with project management principles, standards, and best practices.

This position may be required to work in the Provincial Emergency Coordination Centre or on field assignment as needed during emergencies in order to coordinate provincial emergency response efforts and/or support/advise/assist government ministries, municipalities, First Nations and/or other organizations. In these circumstances, the position may require working extending and irregular hours and/or shifts with minimal or no notice, particularly during emergencies and exercise.

Qualifications
Required
: University degree in Business, Education or related , PLUS 2 years related experience or equivalent as described

Equivalency
: Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of 1 year of education for 1 year of experience, or 1 year of experience for 1 year of education

For Example

  • Related 1 year certificate PLUS a minimum 5years of experience
  • Related 2-year diploma PLUS a minimum 4 years of experience
  • Related minimum 6 years of experience

The Successful Candidate MUST Also Have

  • Experience with training development and delivery
  • Experience developing corporate/organizational training plans
  • Knowledge of change management principles and approaches
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office

Assets

  • Experience with curriculum development
  • Experience with training authoring tools such as Adobe Captivate
  • Certification in change management, such as PROSCI
  • Experience working with or administering learning management systems
  • Knowledge of organizational knowledge management and succession planning
