About Us

We are a small, licensed childcare centre located at 2241 Dundas Street West. We offer care for children ages 16 months to 4 years old in a mixed-age classroom, where all children learn and play together in one warm and inclusive environment.

At The Village Nursery School, we believe in fostering a sense of belonging, curiosity, and community through a play-based approach that encourages children to explore and grow at their own pace.

Who We Are Looking For

• We are seeking a Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE) to join our team.
• This position is a full-time classroom role that also includes Assistant Supervisor responsibilities.
• The successful candidate will work directly with the children each day while also supporting the Supervisor in the smooth operation of the centre.
• This position begins part-time in November 2025 and transitions to full-time in December 2025.
• We are looking for an educator who is kind, dependable, and collaborative, and who is passionate about creating a nurturing environment for young children.

Key Responsibilities

Classroom Responsibilities

• Plan and implement a developmentally appropriate, play-based program following How Does Learning Happen? and ELECT frameworks.
• Foster an inclusive, nurturing environment that supports childrens emotional, social, and cognitive development.
• Conduct daily health checks, supervise meals, toileting, rest time, and outdoor play.
• Maintain open, positive communication with families and colleagues.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe classroom environment.
• Collaborate with co-educators to plan and implement daily routines and activities.

Assistant Supervisor Responsibilities

• Support the Supervisor with daily centre operations while maintaining full-time classroom responsibilities.
• Act as the designated person in charge when the Supervisor is off-site.
• Support staffing coordination, all daily scheduling, and compliance with the Child Care and Early Years Act (CCEYA) requirements.
• Help onboard and mentor new educators and supply staff.
• Communicate with families regarding daily wellness updates, children's overall development, and general centre updates.
• Ensure all documentation, licensing, and safety compliance requirements are being met.
• Contribute to a positive, collaborative, and professional team culture.

Qualifications

• Must be a Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE) in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators (CECE)
• Must have a valid Standard First Aid & CPR-C certification (not expired)
• Must have a Vulnerable Sector Check (current within the last 6 months)
• Must be legally eligible to work in Canada
• Minimum of 2 years of classroom experience in a licensed daycare setting
• Experience working in a team environment
• Awareness of allergies and health and safety practices in licensed childcare settings
• Knowledge of Ministry of Education and Public Health requirements for licensed childcare centres
• Food Handlers Certificate is an asset (not required)

Compensation

Starting at $28/hour
