The Opportunity
We're looking for a Kitchen Manager / Chef de Cuisine to lead our culinary team and continue building on the Elmdale's reputation for approachable, high-quality food and genuine hospitality.
This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who can balance creativity, consistency, and operational discipline — from managing daily service to mentoring cooks and maintaining standards that make people feel at home the moment they walk in.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead daily kitchen operations, including prep, service, and closing routines.
- Maintain and evolve the Elmdale menu — tavern classics, seafood dishes, and rotating features.
- Manage scheduling, ordering, inventory, and cost control.
- Train, mentor, and motivate kitchen staff, fostering a culture of respect and teamwork.
- Ensure food quality, presentation, and safety standards are upheld at all times.
- Collaborate with front-of-house leadership to deliver a seamless guest experience.
- Contribute to ongoing seasonal menu development and event programming.
What We're Looking For
- Proven leadership experience as a Sous Chef, Kitchen Manager, or Chef de Cuisine.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to thrive in a high-volume, high-energy kitchen.
- A passion for seafood and local ingredients.
- Solid understanding of cost management, labour control, and ordering systems.
- A collaborative mindset — someone who leads by example and builds a positive kitchen culture.
