Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and passionate Sushi Chef to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have a strong min. 3 years background in Sushi Maki making, Sushi, fish cutting, with a focus on sushi and Japanese cuisine. As a Sushi Chef, you will be responsible for creating high-quality sushi dishes that meet our restaurant's standards for taste and presentation. This role requires creativity, attention to detail, and a commitment to food safety and hygiene.
Duties
- Prepare sushi rice, fish, vegetables, and other ingredients according to traditional recipes and techniques.
- Create a variety of sushi rolls, sashimi, and nigiri with attention to flavor, texture, and presentation.
- Ensure all food is prepared in compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen area, including proper food storage practices.
- Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure timely service during peak hours.
- Monitor inventory levels of ingredients and assist in ordering supplies as needed.
- Stay updated on current trends in sushi preparation and presentation to enhance menu offerings.
Skills
- Proficient in serving techniques and food preparation methods specific to sushi making.
- Strong cooking skills with experience in food service environments.
- Knowledge of food handling practices and food safety regulations.
- Previous restaurant experience is preferred, particularly in a kitchen setting focused on Asian cuisine.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining high standards of quality.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
- A passion for the food industry with a commitment to continuous learning in culinary arts.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Permanent, Apprenticeship
Pay: $30,000.00-$45,000.00 per year
Expected hours: 15 – 40 per week
