Life Skills / Employment Readiness Facilitator

Opportunity

Pacific Community Resources Society requires a Life Skills/Employment Readiness Facilitator to support the various employment programs including Youth Employment Programs in Surrey and in Vancouver, including Midtown WorkBC. This position will work with participants with multiple complex barriers including unstable housing and substance use concerns.

This position will be required to work in multiple locations including Surrey and Vancouver with some opportunities to work remotely.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver workshops on life and employment readiness skills in person, outreach and virtual.
  • Provide effective, impactful and motivational employment and life skills workshops to participants in a group or individual setting tailored to their unique needs.
  • Work Collaboratively with the other PCRS Employment Program staff to support their participants gain life and employment skills.
  • Deliver workshops and services with a trauma-informed approach that is strength-based fosters growth in a flexible environment.
  • Manage the classroom environment while maintaining a dynamic and interactive learning environment.
  • Perform administrative duties such as attendance, reporting or progress updates promptly on Salesforce or other databases as required.
  • Provides referrals to other community support services as required.
  • Maintain relevant, up to date workshop materials and resources for participants.
  • Develop relationships with local employers and community organizations.
  • Marketing PCRS Employment Programs at community events, creating connections with local employers to help participants get employed.
  • Provide coverage for other roles within the PCRS Employment team.

Qualifications

  • BA or Degree in a related field and Career Development Practitioner Certificate or equivalent
  • 2+ years' experience facilitating workshops to an audience with diverse levels of abilities with an inclusive and strength-based approach.
  • Experience managing a classroom of youth and adults with multiple complex barriers with a trauma-informed approach.
  • Extensive knowledge of employment training programs and their curriculum of life skills and employment readiness
  • Strong knowledge of the Labor Market and ability to build strong resumes and cover letters.
  • A high degree of emotional intelligence as well as a natural ability to connect with participants and work with a diverse team.
  • Strong computer skills and usage of MS Office including MS Word and PowerPoint
  • Criminal Records Check with the Vulnerable Sector.
  • Valid Driver's License with Business Insurance (Drivers Abstract must be submitted upon hire)
  • Use of Own Vehicle required. Paid mileage
  • Valid First Aid Certificate
  • Valid MANDT Certificate (will be trained upon hire)

  • Mental Health First Aid Certification
  • De-Escalation/Non-Violent Intervention Training
  • Familiarity with Employment Assessments
  • Motivational Interviewing and Solution-Focused Counselling
  • Understanding of the impacts of trauma, substance use, and housing support services
  • Experience with Canva and Salesforce
