Position Overview
Our client, a project delivery and engineering group supporting the development of a major potash asset in the United States, is seeking a Senior Geology/Mining Engineer to support their upcoming feasibility study and provide technical input through the next phase of project development.
This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the advancement of a large-scale potash operation utilizing solution mining techniques. The successful candidate will work closely with project leadership and technical consultants to deliver geological modeling, resource assessment, and mining design support.
Based in downtown Vancouver, this position offers flexibility to join as either a full-time employee or contractor, with occasional travel to the project site in Utah.
Further Responsibilities Include the Following
- Develop and maintain geological and 3D deposit models for the potash project.
- Lead or contribute to geological assessments, exploration studies, and feasibility-level resource evaluations.
- Support the design of solution mining systems, including well field layouts and brine injection/extraction strategies.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (engineering, hydrogeology, and project management) to advance project planning.
- Interpret and integrate data from drilling, sampling, and geophysical programs.
- Prepare and review technical reports, geological interpretations, and resource documentation.
- Provide technical oversight and mentorship where applicable to junior staff or consultants.
Ideal Candidate Requirements
- Degree in Geology, Geological Engineering, or Mining Engineering.
- 10+ years of experience in geological modeling, mine development, or exploration, ideally within solution mining or evaporite deposit environments.
- Familiarity with potash, salt, or brine-based extraction processes.
- Strong background in resource modeling, geological software, and technical reporting.
- Experience in consulting, mining operations, or owner-side project development.
- Excellent analytical and communication skills, with ability to integrate geological data into engineering design.
- Availability to travel occasionally to site in Utah.
Why This Opportunity
- Key technical role supporting a flagship North American potash project.
- In-office position based in downtown Vancouver.
- Option to join as a full-time employee or independent contractor.
- Competitive compensation aligned with project phase and experience level.
- Direct exposure to solution mining and large-scale resource development within a growing organization.
Interested candidates are encouraged to send their resume in word format to this posting or email Torus and our clients are equal opportunity employers. Due to the time-sensitive nature of this requirement, only candidates selected for an interview will be contacted.
