Mine Permitting Manager

BC

We are seeking an experienced and resourceful
Mine Permitting Manager
to join our client's team. This is a pivotal role in advancing one of British Columbia's most exciting steelmaking coal projects, contributing to regional economic growth while upholding the highest environmental standards.

This permanent, full-time position offers the opportunity to shape the permitting strategy for a major project while working alongside an experienced leadership team that values open communication, autonomy, and collaboration.

PERKS AND BENEFITS:

  • Competitive salary range of $175,000 to $200,000, commensurate with experience
  • $10,000 in benefits equivalent (health and wellness coverage)
  • Relocation support if necessary
  • Hybrid work environment based in Vancouver (3 days/week in office)
  • Small, high-impact team environment that values initiative, adaptability, and open communication

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:

  • Guide the project through complex regulatory processes to secure required permits and approvals for exploration, development, operation, and closure
  • Ensure full regulatory compliance with provincial, federal, and local mining and environmental legislation
  • Coordinate permit applications, submissions, and tracking (e.g., Mines Act, water use, environmental approvals)
  • Develop and maintain high-quality documentation—including environmental assessments, closure plans, and technical reports
  • Engage stakeholders—acting as a liaison with government agencies, Indigenous Nations, and multidisciplinary internal teams
  • Integrate input from engineering, geology, and environmental specialists to ensure alignment with permitting and project schedules
  • Conduct monitoring and auditing to verify compliance with permit conditions and identify corrective actions
  • Advise senior management on regulatory risks, strategic options, and evolving permitting requirements

WHAT YOU BRING:

  • Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Environmental Science, Mining Engineering, Geology, or related field
  • Experience in mining permitting, regulatory compliance, and environmental management
  • Proven experience permitting mining projects from start to finish
  • Strong background in Indigenous engagement and regulatory consultation
  • Exceptional communication and negotiation skills
  • Skilled at developing options and strategic pathways to move permitting processes forward efficiently
  • Collaborative mindset, works effectively with engineering, admin, and operations teams

WHY JOIN:

This is a rare opportunity to join a major project at a formative stage, where your expertise will directly shape permitting outcomes and long-term project success. You'll be supported by a seasoned leader who values autonomy, open communication, and collaboration.

If you're a permitting professional who thrives in dynamic, hands-on environments and enjoys solving complex regulatory challenges, this could be your next big move.
