Job Description
Our client is a fast-growing, 100% employee-owned consulting firm with offices across North America. For decades, they've helped tackle complex challenges in mining, water, energy, environment, and infrastructure.
Now they're looking for a Lead Mining Engineer in Vancouver to build and grow their Mining Engineering business in Canada while integrating with their US business counterpart. You'll work with a close-knit, multidisciplinary team of professionals, reporting to the Group Director. This is a leadership role with a strong technical and BD focus - helping clients across BC and Western Canada plan, design, and optimize their mining operations.
What You'll Do
Project Delivery
- Lead mine engineering projects from concept to completion—feasibility, design, operational support, and everything in between.
- Be the primary point of contact for clients, ensuring quality, safety, and satisfaction.
- Apply your expertise in mine design, planning, ventilation, ground control, and production.
- Manage scope, budget, and schedule to keep projects on track.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to a supportive, team-first culture.
- Coordinate with clients, regulators, and other stakeholders to move projects forward.
- Build and grow long-term client relationships across the mining sector.
- Take the lead on proposals, pursuit strategies, and client engagement planning.
- Help shape business strategy in collaboration with offices across Western Canada.
- Stay active in two or three relevant professional organizations.
- Forecast revenues, negotiate contracts, and drive sustainable growth.
- Master's degree in Mining Engineering (or a related field).
- 15+ years of consulting experience in mine engineering, with a strong network in BC.
- At least 3 years in a leadership or project management role.
- Registered as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with EGBC (or eligible for registration).
- Strong relationships with mining companies, regulators, and peers in the region.
- Proven track record in client development and project delivery.
- Deep commitment to health, safety, and mentoring junior staff.
- Proficiency in mine planning software and technical reporting.
- Strong communicator with great attention to detail.
- Willing to travel to client sites and other offices as needed.
