SRK Consulting is an independent, international consulting practice, providing globally integrated consulting services to the international mining and metals sector.
Description Of Responsibilities
We are seeking a senior or principal structural geologist for our Vancouver-based geology team.
Our North American geology group is one of the largest within SRK, with a diverse cross-section of structural geologists, resource geologists, and geostatisticians. As a senior- to principal-level consultant within this team, your general responsibilities will include the belt-to-deposit-scale structural analysis and interpretation of mineralized systems. Our work incorporates field analysis, advanced 3D modeling, and geophysical interpretation applied from early exploration through mining project development (including resource and engineering studies) to operational support.
An important aspect of working for SRK will be the development of your consultancy. We encourage all engineers and scientists to grow their consulting skills under the broad SRK umbrella; the successful applicant will therefore be expected to establish and maintain client relationships.
Essential Requirements
- A postgraduate degree specializing in the structural geology of ore deposits, preference for PhD
- Applied structural geology experience in an exploration or operational capacity, including field-oriented, belt-to deposit-scale structural analysis and the interpretation of mineralized systems
- A strong theoretical background with demonstrated competence in defining applied solutions
- Proficiency with GIS and 3D modeling software
- Professional registration or eligibility to obtain it
- Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team to generate, implement, and complete projects
- An established network within the mining industry
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Dynamic and energetic leadership skills, including the ability to mentor younger consultant
Additional Beneficial Experience
- Experience with modern, implicit modelling tools and/or geophysical interpretation
- Prior consulting experience
In this position, you will work in multidisciplinary teams on projects around the world and may be required to travel internationally.
This position involves working in multi-disciplinary teams on a range of projects both nationally and overseas; international travel may form a significant part of the role.
