Remote, Canada Platform Full time $120,000 - $180,000 per year
About Upsun (formerly )

Upsun is the cloud application platform humans and robots love. It is built for today's hybrid teams, where AI agents write and test code and humans focus on solving the problems that really matter. Developers, DevOps engineers, and platform teams use Upsun to build, ship, and scale confidently without wrestling with backend infrastructure. We give you your time back. You get:

  • Predictable performance, even at scale
  • Secure, compliant environments by default
  • Real-time observability and profiling built in
  • Cloning, configuration, and provisioning in seconds
  • AI-ready features that plug directly into your stack

The name says it all. "Up" means uptime, reliability, and acceleration. "Sun" reflects our follow-the-sun-support, a 24x7, globally distributed support team keeping the lights on while you rest. Our core belief is that software should power brighter solutions and greater innovation.

Upsunners are a remote, global workforce, and we thrive in a multicultural team. We are committed to open source and an open, welcoming environment. Our team spans the globe and the experience spectrum.

What's our commonality, our cultural fabric? A curious spirit and a thirst for knowledge; an eagerness for innovative ideas and cultures. We believe we can build anything together in an environment that frees you to do your best work. Our values:

We make a positive impact.

We aim for the stars.

We care for each other.

Impact of a Product Manager

As a Product Manager at Upsun, you play a pivotal role in shaping the future of Upsun, our next-generation cloud application platform. Sitting at the intersection of infrastructure and developer experience, you drive outcomes that enable developers to move faster and platform teams to scale with confidence.

You act as a bridge between engineering, users, and go-to-market teams, translating complex technical needs into product experiences that delight. Your work empowers modern development teams by reducing friction, simplifying orchestration, and enhancing the self-service capabilities of our platform.

Beyond shipping features, you bring a "platform as product" mindset, rallying teams around shared goals and constantly evolving the product to meet the needs of our users. You embody our belief that developer experience is infrastructure, and help ensure Upsun delivers on that promise.

What to expect
  • Product Ownership: Define and drive product strategy for key parts of Upsun—especially infrastructure orchestration and developer workflows.
  • Developer Experience: Shape intuitive, outcome-focused experiences that make infrastructure seamless for modern dev teams.
  • Cross-Functional Alignment: Collaborate across engineering, design, marketing, support, and customer success to ensure alignment on goals, priorities, and milestones.
  • Customer Insight: Gather feedback from internal users and external customers to guide product decisions and roadmap development.
  • Technical Collaboration: Partner closely with platform, systems, and infrastructure engineers to build scalable, reliable platform capabilities.
  • Go-to-Market Support: Contribute to positioning, messaging, and rollout of new features with our go-to-market teams.
What you bring
  • Product Leadership: Experience as a Product Manager at a software company, ideally focused on developer platforms, infrastructure, or PaaS.
  • Platform Mindset: You've applied a "platform as product" approach—either in commercial products or internal developer platforms.
  • Technical Fluency: You understand the realities of building and running applications in the cloud with infrastructure engineers.
  • Software Development Experience: Familiarity with at least one programming language (e.g., Python, Ruby, JavaScript, PHP, Golang, or Rust), and insight into the developer journey.
  • CI/CD & Containerization: Experience designing or using CI/CD workflows and working with Docker or OCI-compatible container technologies.
  • API & System Design: Comfort with API-based platforms and understanding of cloud infrastructure complexity.
  • User-Centric Thinking: You lead with a user-first mindset and excel at translating technical capabilities into intuitive product experiences.
  • Communication & Prioritization: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prioritize effectively and manage competing demands.
Bonus points for
  • Experience using Kubernetes or building self-service platforms on Kubernetes
  • Familiarity with developer portals such as Backstage
  • Experience with distributed systems or large-scale multi-tenant architectures
  • Knowledge of buildpacks, deployment orchestration, or configuration-as-code
  • Experience scaling and working with large databases
