Opportunity:

We are looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented Cook to join our team and prepare fresh, high-quality meals for the dogs in our care. The ideal candidate is passionate about animal welfare, enjoys working in a kitchen environment, and can follow detailed recipes and feeding protocols developed by our in-house nutritionist.

About Dog Tales Rescue & Sanctuary:

Dog Tales is a world-renowned dog rescue and horse sanctuary set on an incredible 50 acres of green fields, rolling hills, and wooded areas in King City, Ontario. Our picturesque location - complete with walking trails, therapy pools, and a grooming spa - is the perfect setting for abused and neglected animals to heal and be rehabilitated while they wait for forever homes. Along with medical care, our team provides all of the love, attention, and training that our rescue animals need to recover from their difficult pasts, so that they can move on to permanent, loving homes, which most do. For the rest, Dog Tales is home for as long as they need it to be.

The Role:

  • Prepare daily meals for dogs based on specific recipes and dietary requirements.
  • Work closely with the on-site nutritionist to ensure proper ingredient use and portion control.
  • Handle, store, and prep fresh ingredients safely and hygienically.
  • Maintain a clean and organized kitchen space in compliance with food safety standards.
  • Track inventory and notify team leads when supplies need restocking.
  • Adapt recipes as directed for individual dogs with allergies or medical conditions.
  • Follow feeding schedules and ensure meals are prepared in a timely manner.
  • Participate in routine cleaning and equipment maintenance.

What You Bring:

  • Previous cooking or food prep experience preferred.
  • Comfortable working with raw meats, fresh produce, and large-batch cooking.
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and maintain consistency in recipes.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to cleanliness and safety.
  • Physically capable of standing for long periods and lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Passion for animals and a desire to contribute to their well-being.
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently or as part of a team.

Salary: The salary for this position (full time) starts at $42,000 per year.

Schedule:

We are hiring two positions for this role. One full time and one part or full time.

The hours for this position are 5am-2pm. The full time position will be 5 days per week and the part time will be a minimum of 2 days per week.
