Unified LLP is a multidisciplinary law firm serving clients across Ontario in Family Law, Employment Law, Disability Insurance, and Landlord-Tenant matters. Our Family Law Group is recognized for its professionalism, compassion, and results-driven approach. We are growing and seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented Legal Assistant to join our Family Law Department.
This is an in-person role and requires in-office attendance.
Position Overview
The Legal Assistant will provide comprehensive administrative and legal support to the lawyers in the Family Law Department. This position is ideal for a proactive professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment, manages competing priorities, and ensures the smooth progression of files from intake to resolution.
Key Responsibilities
File Management & Client Support
- Open and organize client files in Clio Manage following firm protocols.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date digital filing and correspondence records.
- Liaise with clients, opposing counsel, and court staff in a professional and timely manner.
- Schedule client meetings.
- Track and calendar limitation periods and procedural deadlines.
Document Preparation & Court Filings
- Assemble, paginate, and file affidavits of service, financial statements, and continuing records.
- Prepare and organize briefs for hearings, motions, and settlement conferences.
Administrative & Practice Support
- Manage lawyer calendars, calls, and client communications.
- Assist with billing, docketing, and trust requests through Clio Manage.
- Coordinate service and filing with process servers and couriers.
- Maintain confidentiality and comply with Law Society of Ontario practice standards.
Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of experience as a Legal Assistant
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent attention to detail, time management, and organizational abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and document management systems.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and manage competing priorities.
