Job Description:

The Digital Learning Content Specialist will work in the Human Resources Department and will work with the Learning & Development unit. Primary responsibilities include designing and producing eLearning, videos, and micro-learning assets within the Absorb platform; translating pension and compliance content into engaging, accessible training; administering and publishing courses in the LMS; partnering with subject-matter experts to gather requirements and validate content; tracking completions and assessment data to drive improvements; and supporting L&D communications and related initiatives, with additional duties as assigned.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Design, build, and maintain interactive eLearning, videos, micro-modules, and multimedia content using authoring tools and learning management systems (LMS) that meet brand standards.
  • Incorporating multimedia elements such as videos, animations, simulations, and gamification to enhance learner engagement and retention
  • Developing assessments, quizzes, and evaluation methods to measure learner progress and knowledge acquisition
  • Implementing accessibility standards and best practices to ensure inclusive and equitable learning experiences
  • Translate SME inputs into clear objectives, scripts, and assessments aligned to business outcomes.
  • Analyzing learning needs and objectives to develop tailored digital learning strategies and solutions
  • Monitoring learner performance and course analytics to identify areas for improvement and optimize learning outcomes
  • Staying up to date with emerging technologies, trends, and best practices in digital learning and instructional design
  • Providing training and support to instructors, facilitators, and learners on the effective use of digital learning platforms and resources
  • Promoting a culture of continuous learning and knowledge sharing within the organization
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams and subject matter experts to ensure seamless integration and implementation of digital learning initiatives

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Diploma/degree in Instructional Design, Digital Design, Communications, or related; equivalent experience considered.
  • 2–4 years building digital learning in corporate/regulated settings (financial services/public sector an asset).
  • Demonstrated portfolio (eLearning modules, video/micro-learning, storyboards).
  • Proficiency with Learning Management Systems, Absorb or similar; hands-on LMS admin experience.
  • Working knowledge of AODA/WCAG 2.0 AA
  • Strong written/verbal communication; ability to simplify complex pension/compliance content.
  • Strong skills in MS Office; basic graphic and video editing tools (e.g., Canva, Camtasia, Adobe tools).

Skills:

  • Proven experience in instructional design and the development of online training programs
  • Proficiency in using learning management systems, virtual classrooms, and other educational technologies
  • Strong collaboration, written and verbal communication skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with SMEs and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Ability to analyze data and user feedback to continuously improve digital learning initiatives
  • Working knowledge of accessibility standards (AODA/WCAG 2.0 AA), including captions, transcripts, contrast, and keyboard navigation.
  • Awareness of privacy and information security requirements (PIPEDA) when producing learning content.
