Summary
As a vessel-based area supervisor, each Master oversees their vessel's crew and other persons onboard. The Master cooperates with all members of the Shore Management Team and the Designated Person.
We are seeking a skilled Boat Captain to join our team at Trident Navigation Ltd in lower mainland Vancouver & Richmond. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe navigation and operation of our tugboats, barges, and marine terminals contributing significantly to our mission of delivering safe and efficient marine transportation services.
Responsibilities
The Master must have the following qualifications and/or experience:
- Mandatory certificates of competency.
- Fully familiar with the intended area of operation and barge handling.
- Evaluated and approved by Shore Management Team.
- Medical fitness.
- With familiarization and training become fully proficient with Tridents Safety Program.
In addition to their responsibilities as an area supervisor, the Master is responsible for:
- Inspecting the vessel's condition prior to each shift through a check and report procedure or through a log.
- Ensure rest periods are followed as stated in the Marine Occupational Health and Safety Regulations.
- Managing the vessel and its personnel.
- Ensuring their vessel, barge, tow, cargo, etc. is in safe operating condition.
- Communicating with flag and port authorities.
- Leading the shipboard emergency team.
- Ensuring that they maintain valid certificates (including their Continued Proficiency Certificates and Medical Certificates) and that they carry their Certificates of Competency with them at all times when sailing on the vessel.
- Liaising with the shore management team and communicating safety-related issues.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $10,000.00-$15,000.00 per month
