About the Role

As a Cybersecurity Intern in the Digital Energy Application Center, you will support initiatives that ensure the security and resilience of digital energy solutions. This role offers hands-on experience in securing IoT-enabled Digital Power systems, and energy management platforms.  You will collaborate with cybersecurity champions and power application engineers to implement best practices and mitigate risks in critical infrastructure.

What will you do?

  • Support the implementation of cybersecurity controls aligned with SE Cybersecurity Policies.
  • Monitor cybersecurity controls with PMs.
  • Help maintain vulnerability management for projects in conjunction with the PMs.
  • Document findings and prepare reports for internal stakeholders.
  • Research emerging cyber threats in the energy sector and propose mitigation strategies.

What qualifications will make you successful for this role?

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
  • Basic understanding of IT security, encryption, and authentication protocols.
  • Beginner experience with security tools and technologies, such as firewalls, intrusion detection systems, security information and event management systems.
  • Knowledge of networking and network security, including TCP/IP, routing, and switching.
  • Knowledge of security protocols, such as TLS/SSL, SSH and VPNs.
  • Experience with vulnerability assessment and management.
  • Knowledge of Python, PowerShell, or scripting for automation.
  • Exposure to cloud security (Azure, AWS) and IoT security frameworks.
  • Basic understanding of digital power systems and energy management solutions is a plus.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Goal-oriented, able to focus on individual tasks while also understanding the bigger picture and how systems work together.
  • Willing to challenge the status quo, experimenting to find new solutions.
