Legal Assistant, Municipal Law

The employer we represent is a leading law firm located downtown Montreal recognized for its expertise in municipal law.

Our client is currently looking for a Legal Assistant to join its team working on cases involving expropriation, property assessment, zoning, tax collection, permit applications and the enforcement of various regulations.

YOUR ROLE:

As a Legal Assistant, you will provide valuable support to a great team of seasoned professionals who are familiar with the realities and issues facing cities, municipalities, and RCMs.

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing client files (correspondence, supporting documents);

  • Meeting deadlines, calculation and entering in calendar;

  • Producing various reports, letters, forms, and notes, mainly in French;

  • Establishing contact with various stakeholders (clients, opposing parties, court clerks, stenographers, bailiffs);

  • Managing phone calls and following up on correspondence.

SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • College diploma (DVS) in Office Technology with legal specialization or Paralegal Technology, or DCS in Secretarial Studies with legal specialization;
  • Experience in litigation;
  • Excellent command of French, spoken and written;
  • Good computer skills, including proficiency in Word and Outlook;
  • Ability to manage multiple files at once and prioritize tasks;
  • Meticulousness and attention to detail.
