The Opportunity:

Are you a driven and results-oriented individual with strong knowledge in the support of a P.25 Astro radio system and equipment or have knowledge in a similar complex environment including system administration, trouble-shooting, performance tuning, security, and preventative maintenance? Have you designed, implemented and supported technical radio infrastructure development projects? If this sounds like you, we are excited to share with you the position of Intermediate Technical Analyst, Radio Infrastructure.

What can I expect to do in this role?

In this role you will implement, maintain and ensure uptime of the Service radio infrastructure environment on a 24 x7 basis. You will monitor the radio infrastructure to ensure it is reliable, accessible and secure. Furthermore, you will provide guidance to junior staff members, as well as directs, assigns and schedules work, as required.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Technical lead for radio infrastructure for multiple projects/initiatives to improve or stabilize the radio infrastructure IT equipment.
• Provides technical expertise to analyze and resolve radio infrastructure problems.
• Develops operational support/end user documentation and training information for ITS support and business user members.
• Manages and supports junior staff in operational/technical needs and work requirements.
• Implements radio infrastructure standards/baselines at all Service divisional/tower radio locations.
• Tests, supports and repairs radio infrastructure equipment against manufacture s standards.
• Maintains cleanliness of infrastructure equipment and areas through daily work or preventative maintenance scheduling.
• Designs and creates programs for automation tasks and processes for monitoring the environment/devices and sending alerts when failures occur.
• Completes radio coverage testing and corresponding documentation.
• Uses asset management and work order software for tracking and servicing records.
• Assists in the procurement for goods/services in support of the radio infrastructure.
• Researches current market trends as it pertains to radio infrastructure security, design, support and best practices.
• Performs typical duties inherent to the position.

Education/Experience:

• University or College Degree/Diploma in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
• Must have three (3) years of related experience.
• Experience in the design, implementation and support of technical radio infrastructure development projects.
• Experience with an asset management and work order application.

Skills/Competencies:

• Strong knowledge in the support of a P.25 Astro radio system (trunking and conventional) and equipment (iUEM, RCA, KVM, Wireless manager) or similar complex environment including system administration, trouble-shooting, performance tuning, security, and preventative maintenance.
• Knowledgeable of in-building radio coverage systems or similar complex environments (design, execution, rollout and support).
• Knowledgeable of TCP/IP networking fundamentals including routers, firewalls and switches, security and web technologies.
• Good oral and written communication skills.
• Must have (or be willing and eligible to obtain) a Class G Drivers licence and a Toronto Police Service Blue Card .
• Must be willing and able to be on call for after-hours technical support on a rotating basis or dependant on Service needs.
• Must be able to climb step ladders and be comfortable working at heights
