Controlled Substances coordinator and Qualified person in Charge (QPIC)

Key functions:
In collaboration with the Controlled Substances team, you will be responsible for the pick-up, management and treatment of controlled substances in accordance with Health Canada legislation and regulations.

More specifically, you'll have to:
Communicate directly with the Qualified person in charge for the controlled substances at our clients' site in order to plan receptions. Our various clients are among the largest pharmaceutical and cosmetic product companies in Canada.

Take charge of controlled substances, precursors, and cannabis as soon as they arrive at our facilities.

Following receipt, store these substances in accordance with the various Health Canada regulations.

Perform a physical inventory of 100% of the controlled substances received. Identify and accurately list discrepancies during inventory. If a discrepancy is identified during the inventory, the AQPIC must inform the QPIC who will communicate quickly with the client and the regulatory authorities to inform them of the discrepancy and obtain an explanation.

Following a completed inventory, the AQPIC - Controlled Substances coordinates the various destruction by forwarding official destruction request documents to Health Canada.

Perform the physical destruction and chemical denaturation of controlled substances in accordance with the authorization received from Health Canada;

Supervise the transportation of controlled substances for Off-site destructions, as needed.

Ensure security requirements are met, manage alarms, notifications and investigate any breaches of security.

Work as an expert and resource for the operations team and provide updates and/or training as required.

Work towards and help create a positive safety culture.

Aid in meeting customer requirements for controlled substances including, but not limited to:

- Auditing and site visits.
- Program and procedure management and development; and
- Discrepancy and COD reporting.

Perform other duties as required.

**Requirements**:
Hold a degree in a related scientific discipline (Chemistry, biochemistry, pharmacology, microbiology, chemical engineering, medicine or dentistry) from a Canadian university, college or recognized Canadian equivalent.

A minimum of 6 months of experience in the pharmaceutical industry;

Be familiar with the provision of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Acts and its regulations;

Proficient with Microsoft Office;

Good organizational and priority management skills;

Ability to lift 20 kg loads.

Wearing a full-face mask respirator PPE may be required on a daily basis
