The Health Centre provides a broad range of services aimed at improving the health of individuals and the wider community. Our services include medical and dental care, health promotion, illness prevention and outreach programming. Our expertise and resources are focused on working with those who experience health inequities and barriers to accessing health services. Collaborating as an interdisciplinary team, we provide services and supports that address the social determinants of health including factors and barriers such as poverty, inadequate housing, food insecurity, substance use, language and culture, as well as stigma and social exclusion.

The Health Centre works with the most complex client population served by primary health care professionals within Waterloo Region. Our highly skilled and diverse team works from a strength-based approach with individual clients as well as the broader community. We collaborate with many partner agencies and organizations within Waterloo Region. Our team consists of Family Physicians, Nurse Practitioners, Registered Nurses, Social Workers, Dietitians, Chiropodists, Pharmacists, Psychiatrists, Health Promoters, Community Health Workers, Administrative Staff and Volunteers.

The Health Centre is currently recruiting for the following position:
**Finance Controller**

**Full-time Permanent - 1.0 FTE**

**Job Summary**:
The Finance Controller is focused on ensuring that CHCKW maintains efficient and effective financial and operating systems, processes and accountability across its business functions. The Controller is responsible for providing accurate information and reporting to the CEO and other Leaders, the CHCKW Board of Directors, funders and other stakeholders. As a member of the Leadership Team, the Controller provides input for strategic decisions and direction for operational initiatives. The Controller provides direct supervision and support for assigned staff including finance.

**Responsibilities**:
**Finance**
- Provide oversight of all financial staff activities and functions including accounts receivable, payable, general ledger and financial reporting, ensuring all processes and systems are GAAP compliant and meet or exceed all legislative, regulatory and funding requirements.
- Develop and implement systems of accountability and internal controls.
- Ensure timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, annual and ad hoc reporting as required by legislation, funders, CHCKW leaders and other stakeholders.
- Prepare forecasts and lead the annual budget process.
- Prepare and review program budgets and related expenditures.
- Ensure the preparation and coordination of all audit materials as per Auditors requirements.
- Ensure effective cash management and banking relations.
- Attend Finance Committee and Board of Directors meetings as requested by the Chief Executive Officer.
- Manage funding contracts, leases, insurance and other related contracts and agreements.
- Manage the acquisition of capital and other physical assets, ensuring they are properly recorded, amortized and disposed of.

**Payroll & Benefits**
- Perform reconciliations and maintain sub-ledgers.
- Perform salary and benefits projections.
- Prepare internal payroll related reports and investigate variances.
- Prepare statutory reports such as: Ontario Workplace Safety & Insurance Board, Ontario Employee Health Tax, Ontario Works, Statistics Canada and others as required.
- Prepare general ledger adjustments and journal entries as required.
- Address inquiries from employees and refer to managers when required.

**Facilities**
- Manage funding contracts, leases, insurance and other related contracts and agreements.
- Manage the acquisition of capital and other physical assets, ensuring they are properly recorded, amortized and disposed of.
- Ensure the effective functioning of information technology, building and facilities systems, through assigned administrative staff.

**Other Responsibilities**
- Participate in the development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of health promotion/disease prevention programs for individuals and client populations as determined by the Health Centre.
- Develop and monitor operating budgets for assigned projects/programs and ensure expenditures remain within budget.
- As a Student Supervisor, provide orientation, ongoing support, coaching and monitoring to meet the requirements of the Health Centre and of the educational institution.
- As a Volunteer Supervisor, provide support, training, monitoring and on-going communication as needed for the volunteer to successfully fulfill their position description.
- Maintain a valid driver’s license, access to a reliable personal vehicle and adequate insurance for work-related travel in accordance with the Health Centre’s policies.
