**About us**

Got Your Back is a grassroots, ally-driven movement that offers day program support for persons with developmental disabilities, Autism, and/or a dual diagnosis who are older than 18 and transitioning to adulthood in the Etobicoke, ON area. Our programs focus on life, social, and job skill training to help members develop independent or semi-independent living skills. We provide a secure and encouraging atmosphere for members to interact socially, learn about their community, and practice their reading and job skills.

This is a summer internship role at Got Your Back Toronto located in Etobicoke, ON. As an intern, you will be involved in the day-to-day tasks of supporting our members with developmental disabilities, Autism, and/or a dual diagnosis. This is an on-site role where you will have the opportunity to directly interact with our members and contribute to their growth, social interactions, and job skill development. Please note that there may be instances of aggressive behaviors that you may encounter.

**Qualifications**
- Experience or interest in supporting individuals with developmental disabilities, Autism, and/or a dual diagnosis
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Patience and empathy
- Reliability and punctuality
- Basic knowledge of developmental disabilities and/or Autism
- Ability to follow directions and adapt to changing situations
- Have CPI, UMAB or Safe Management Training preferred but will
- First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain certification)
- Ability to pass a vulnerable sector police check

**Job Type**: Internship / Co-op
Contract length: 5 months
