Under the direction of the Manager, Indigenous Relations, the Administrative Coordinator is responsible to assist in developing the long term vision of community, interdepartmental and inter-governmental based programs and initiatives in support of the strategic planning process. This position will independently design, plan and oversee implementation of various initiatives related to the Indigenous Relations portfolios. The primary initiative that this position will lead is Welcoming Winnipeg to help ensure that the contributions, experiences, and perspectives of First Nations, Métis and Inuit are reflected truthfully in our stories, historical markers, and place names. Additionally, the Administrative Coordinator will develop and maintain networks and relationships, and represent the Division at meetings with the community, internally and at government levels.

**As the** **_Administrative Coordinator, Indigenous Relations_** **you will**:

- Identify short and long term initiatives/opportunities for the various Division portfolios (programs), prepare and implement work plans and project management principles to achieve Mayor and Council mandated objectives.
- Develop, implement and manage the grant funding process, which includes solicitation of funding sources and the administration of funding agreements.
- Develop and maintain Civic, Community and Intergovernmental partnerships and relationships.
- Research, collect information, analyze data, evaluate, and prepare reports, proposals and recommendations for community, departmental, inter-governmental and existing Indigenous Relations initiatives to align with the Journey of Reconciliation, Our Winnipeg, Intergovernmental Strategic Indigenous Alignment and the Indigenous Youth Strategy.
- Be responsible for the supervision, staff assignments, coaching and performance feedback.

**Your education and qualifications include**:

- University Degree in Public or Business Administration, Indigenous Studies or a related field.
- Additional studies in Community Development or Project Management would be preferred.
- Approximately 4-5 years of experience working directly with the Indigenous Community in a related role, such as project management or in a leadership capacity.
- Knowledge of Indigenous culture, history, priorities and matters.
- Experience working with a community development lens and approach.
- Experience in program delivery and evaluation.
- Experience leading and participating on internal and external working groups and committees.
- Experience writing reports and making presentations, presenting ideas and information clearly and concisely.
- Experience managing a budget.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) at an advanced level.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage a heavy workload and set priorities.
- Effective verbal communication skills.
- Strong written communication skills.
- Leadership, administrative, organizational, analytical and decision making abilities.
- Ability to supervise and provide guidance to others.
- Ability to work independently and pro-actively identify improvements or inefficiencies.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective respectful working relationships.
- Ability to develop, coordinate and/or facilitate the activities of an inter-disciplinary team.
- Political, business and community acumen and the ability to collaborate and build consensus.
- Ability to recognize opportunities that cross political boundaries and diverse organizational mandates and to form linkages to leverage these opportunities.

**Conditions of employment**:

- Must possess and maintain a valid Manitoba Class 5 Driver’s License.
- The Employee is required to own a suitable automobile and have it available for use in the performance of their duties.
