**Community Outreach Coordinator (12 Month Contract)**

**Position Description**

This is an exciting and diverse role that allows for a lot of creativity and fun

**Key areas of responsibility will include**:

- Liaise and build strong relationships with community contacts, partners, and their clients
- Brainstorm potential partnerships or methods of engagement within the local and national sphere
- Inform community contacts on workshop offerings; tailor and design workshops from HIEC’s suite of offerings to meet the needs of specific community members
- Maintain a calendar for outreach events
- Work closely with current and future community partners to plan and execute various outreach events
- Handling public relations, such as developing strategic relationships, attending trade shows, and conducting informational presentations at trade schools, polytechnic schools, pre-apprenticeship programs, private training facilities, colleges, universities, etc.
- Create, facilitate/present information to various stakeholders
- Analyze data to better inform strategic planning of content delivery and areas for targeted outreach
- Create and contribute to an online database or directory of partnerships
- Create and distribute HIEC promotional materials (posters, brochures, pamphlets, etc.)
- Assist in the creation of multimedia content for HIEC

- Superior planning, organizational and project management skills with ability to re-prioritize assignments and seek managerial guidance when necessary
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced setting
- Strong interest in building rapport with youth, youth empowerment, and adults
- Passion for community outreach and relationship-building with diverse stakeholders particularly within a network
- Ability to develop digestible and effective e-learning content
- Ability to take leadership and manage projects in a fast paced, virtual team environment
- Ability to cope with and embrace change, risk, ambiguity, and uncertainty
- Interest and ability to work in a smaller-sized, not-for-profit organization

**Qualifications to succeed**:

- Post-Secondary education with a focus on Communications, Public Relations, Social Services, or a related field (we also value relevant experience in lieu of a degree/diploma)
- 3+ years experience working as an Outreach Correspondent or in a position with a focus on public facing deliverables/initiatives
- Experience with institutional databases, public access sites, and primary research skills
- Knowledge of the Skilled Trades or Apprenticeship programs is an asset
- Experience creating and delivering presentations and/or facilitations
- Experience with not-for-profit organizations is a strong asset
- Proven ability with e-learning tools, internet research, and social media
- Excellent verbal and presentation skills
- Valid Driver’s License

**Nice to Have**
- Experience with or familiarity of not-for-profit organizations
- Self-started with a positive attitude and a passion for education and career development, with a concentration on the skilled trades
- Thrive in and enjoy entrepreneurial driven environments

**Working Conditions**
- Typical working hours are 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, Monday to Friday, with some requirement to work additional hours, occasionally during evenings and weekends.
- Currently work is remote/from home, with a planned return to work in our Burlington office when it is safe to do so.
- Required to travel for presentations, partnership meetings, conferences, etc.
