**Position Summary**:
Reporting to the Burlington Food Bank Director and working closely with other staff members, the Community Engagement & Marketing Manager is an important team member who will cultivate relationships, create engagement with stakeholders and develop fulsome marketing and fundraising programs on behalf of the organization.

You will take on a multi-faceted role that includes community outreach, marketing, graphic design, website management, fundraising, social media content creation and sharing and supporting with special events, as well as some copywriting and editing. This includes conception to completion projects, blue-sky visioning and strategy, and empowering yourself and others to be brand ambassadors for the Burlington Food Bank. The ability to meet varying timelines and deliverables for multiple projects is key for this role.

This role will support our organization to deliver on its mission of feeding the hungry in our community in a dignified and timely manner.


**Reporting Relationship**:
The Community Engagement and Marketing Manager reports to the Burlington Food Bank Director.

**Hours**: 37.5 hours per week including some weekend or evening hours. Please note that this position will be especially busy from September to December.

**Key Accountabilities**

**Leadership**:

- Provides leadership and guidance to the organization in the areas of marketing, social media, community engagement and fundraising.
- Supports the Director in various related capacities as above

**Community Engagement**:

- Develops profile and awareness for the organization through active outreach, communications, and the building of partnerships
- Ability to be a strong Ambassador for the organization including representing BFB at events, some with presenting and speaking roles as needed
- Keep the community informed and aware of the role of BFB through various channels including social media, events, third-party events, etc.
- Works alongside the BFB Volunteer Coordinator to staff events and build teams.
- Develops and implements successful plans and assets for the promotion of BFB events and third-party initiatives.
- Cultivates community relationships actively and consistently including within organizations that we are members of and other community partners
- Leads, develops, and executes events with partners including the Smile Cookie Campaign, Canstruction, Hunger Action Month and others as needed
- Attends and participates in community events throughout the year to build and maintain connections in the Burlington
- Managing, cultivating and building relationships with all stakeholders including donors, volunteers, media, sponsors and other partners.
- Working with all staff, Board, and volunteers to foster a culture of philanthropy.

**Marketing and Communications**:

- Takes responsibility for all marketing activities to ensure they are aligned with our brand and strategy
- Contributes to and oversees the development and implementation of media and outreach plans to support initiatives, including fundraising appeals, large-scale and community food drives, and events - all in cooperation with the Director, and with staff and volunteer support.
- Oversees all social media including development of posts with visuals/video, copywriting, executing posts, engagement and keeping a fulsome calendar for multiple platforms
- Develops and deploys quarterly newsletters and others as needed
- Develops and maintains a media-asset bank on behalf of BFB
- Develops and maintains a media outreach list for Public Relations and outreach activities
- Development of Media Releases as needed
- Maintain and update the BFB website with support as needed
- Key role in development and support of the Annual Report

**Donor Relations and Donor Management**:

- Working alongside the Director to cultivate, solicit, recognize and steward donors in accordance with best fundraising practices.
- Work with the Director to develop and manage a full spectrum of donor recognition and retention strategies.
- Oversees the identification and engagement of potential major donors.
- Increase donor engagement and retention with active outreach and communications
- Enables fresh and creative modes of donor outreach through multiple channels. Prepares customized written materials, funding proposals, follow-up reports and correspondence.
- Develops printed and digital fundraising materials to support outreach
- Provides support to the Director in data reporting and understanding to translate information into actionable communications
- Provides direct support in the preparation and substantiation of grants initiated by the Director including facilitation of impact materials.

**Reporting**:

- Ensures production of complete and accurate fundraising and marketing reporting in a timely fashion for the Director and stakeholders.
