Fleet Operations Coordinator

**Job Summary**
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Fleet Operations Coordinator to drive our fleet operations at Briere Transportation. This hands-on role requires strong leadership skill, attention to detail, excellent organizational capabilities, effective communication, a deep understanding of transportation & logistics in order to support our mission of delivering freight in a safe and timely manner.
This position has strategic responsibilities that have impact across the enterprise including financial performance accountability, operational efficiencies, fleet safety, risk management and executing defined KPI’s.
**About us**:
Briere Transportation Ltd is a Canadian asset-based division providing Production Transportation and General Freight Services throughout North America. Briere Transportation USA Inc. is a US based division providing the ladder with assets based in Washington. Briere Logistics is our brokerage service.
**Key Responsibilities**:
**Supervision and Leadership**
- In conjunction with the Fleet Operations Manager, support, manage and develop our divisions including office staff, company drivers and owner operators
- Provide leadership and guidance to the team, fostering a positive work environment and promoting teamwork and collaboration
- Set clear performance expectations and goals for sales, dispatchers, load brokers and support staff and hold them accountable for meeting targets.
- Conduct weekly operations meetings with sales, dispatchers, load brokers and support staff to review Fleet KPI’s, weekly schedule, discuss priorities, and address any operational issues or concerns.
- Work to ensure the full roster of company drivers and owner operators
- Develop operational policies and standard operating procedures for the departments
- Conduct Daily team huddles
- Occasional travel to customers and trade shows is required
**Operations Management**
- Coordinate the day-to-day operations to optimize performance for Sales and GPM Targets
- Ensure all trucks are covered and planned for the following day and week
- Maximize Weekly Load Planning to ensure trucks achieve KPI’s
- Ensure operational efficiency and adherence to safety protocols
- Source, work with, and manage outside carriers as necessary to sufficiently service our brokerage division
- Review and approve employee timecards and employee time off requests.
- Respond to customer service/sales and resolve any issues or concerns related to shipments or deliveries.
- Prepare notes for weekly shift briefings
- Provide coverage for dispatch operations when needed
**Staff Development**
- Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide feedback and coaching to drivers, dispatchers and support staff to help them improve their performance and develop their skills.
- Identify training needs and provide opportunities for professional development within the linehaul department.
- Address any performance or disciplinary issues with employees as needed
- Working alongside the Fleet Operations Manager, develop, implement, and administer a driver mentorship program.
- Review and improve the onboarding experience for new drivers in conjunction with the HR department.
- Review staffing requirements and hire staff as needed
**Safety and Compliance**
- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and company policies to maintain a safe working environment for all employees.
- Investigate and address any safety incidents or concerns promptly and effectively.
- Prepare and submit reports on productivity metrics, safety incidents, compliance issues, load securement issues, late trailer closes, service failures to the terminal manager.
**Customer Service**
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure a favorable customer experience
- Proactively communicate with customers regarding shipment status and any delays or issues that may arise
- Assist with sales growth through the development of marketing and customer support
**Ad-Hoc**
- Other duties/projects on a as needed basis
**Required Qualifications**:
- Supply Chain & Logistics Diploma
- Managing Departmental Key Performance Indicators
- Digital Analysis
- Business Management and Financial Comprehension
- Strong IT skills
- Class 1 Drivers License is an asset but not required
**Knowledge & Skills**:
- Management Experience is required
- Dispatch Experience is required
- Trucking experience is required, specifically in Linehaul or Long Haul
- Cross border experience is required
- Knowledge of Tailwind, Roserocket, GEOTAB, tenstreet, Office 365, Google Sheets
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment
- Able to work independently, be well organized, a team player
- Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both verbal and written
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Pay: $70,000.00-$90,000.00 per year
