**Position Summary**
Under the supervision of the Capital Infrastructure Consultant and the FNELCCM management team, the Capital Infrastructure Assistant will assist with infrastructure and capital projects for the FNELCCM.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Assist with coordinating required inspections and needs assessment for capital ELCC projects on reserve.
- Assist with the preparation of construction specifications, cost and material estimates, project schedules and reports.
- Collaborates with First Nations to prepare plans for renovating building, undertaking new construction, and retrofitting existing FNELCC sites.
- Respond to external and internal inquiries in an expedient, professional, and tactful manner.
- Assist in the preparation of all necessary reports for leadership, funders, partners, and key stakeholders.
- Assist with the preparation of presentations related to capital and infrastructure projects for FNELCCM.
- Assist in conducting site visits as required.
- Participate in multi-disciplinary team meetings as required.
- Assist in planning and coordinating capital projects for FNELCCM.
- Assist in preparing all necessary communications between FNELCCM, First Nations leadership and other stakeholders.
- Other duties as assigned.
**Qualifications**
**Education & Experience**
- Diploma in Civil Engineering, Diploma in Construction Technology or equivalent combination of education and experience with minimum of two years experience on capital projects.
- An understanding of First Nations governance structures.
- Experience working in First Nations is an asset.
- Understanding of the funding streams for capital projects in First Nations.
- Knowledge of the project lifecycle, including planning, construction, operations, and maintenance
- Fluency in a First Nations language is an asset.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Programs - Word, Excel, PowerPoint Presentations, Outlook, and Internet.
- Ability to work independently and as a member of a multi-disciplinary team of professionals.
- Highly developed interpersonal skills with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and competing deadlines
- Must have a valid Class 5 driver's license and a reliable vehicle.
- Must have a current satisfactory Criminal Record Check and Clear Child Abuse Checks.
