**Position Summary**
Under the direction of the Eagle Urban Transition Centre Program Manager, the Cultural Support Knowledge Keeper will assist clients in identifying, understanding, and overcoming personal issues through cultural values and traditions. Provide in-house one-on-one mental health counseling to clientele and provide traditional teachings, ceremonial, and land-based teachings.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Provides holistic and culturally appropriate support which incorporates both traditional and contemporary methods involving the four aspects of the individual: physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual.
- Provide one-on-one counseling and advice to clientele.
- Host monthly traditional ceremonies through Sweats, feasts, naming ceremonies and Solstice Ceremonies.
- Maintain confidentiality relating to client issues.
- Counsel clients, individually and/or in a group session, to assist in overcoming dependencies, adjusting to life, making changes, residential schools’ trauma, etc.
- Other duties as assigned.
**Qualifications**
**Education & Experience**
- Degree or certificate in Mental Health Counselling, recognized Addictions Program or relevant education or training.
- Knowledgeable of First Nation cultural values, traditions and ceremonies.
- Knowledgeable of a First Nation language is a definite asset.
- Experience interacting with diverse group of individuals.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work independently and cooperatively as a part of a team.
- Must have a valid Class 5 driver’s license and a reliable vehicle.
- Must have a current satisfactory Criminal Record Check and Clear Child Abuse Checks.
