Vision 74 Inc is a forward thinking, adaptive, and family oriented Nursing Home in Sarnia ON and we are looking for a detail oriented, compassionate, and caring individual to join our Rest Home Family as an Attendant.

Working under the supervision and direction of DOC and/or Administrator by assisting residents with tasks that enable them to remain independent.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Report to the DOC or attendant going off shift to receive shift report and any special instructions.
2. Answer call bells and provide assistance to residents as required.
3. Assist with unscheduled as well as scheduled personal care of residents and document accordingly.
4. Provide for the comfort and well-being of each resident.
5. Distribution of prescribed medications for residents and charting of medications.
6. Other duties as assigned

Preferred Qualifications
1. Experience in attending the elderly and/or handicapped in a health care facility. College Level Education equivalent to or greater than PSW is preferred for all new hires effective May 2014.
2. Familiarity with the use of equipment used in a retirement home setting and regularly update knowledge in this area.
3. Ability to squat, lift and carry small equipment and supplies.
4. Familiar with safe food handling procedures having obtained the Food Handler Certification with recertification is required every 5 years.
5. Completion of GPA (Gentle Persuasive Approach) or willingness to achieve
6. Annual recertification of UCP medication certificate
