Accounting & Payroll Manager

**The role**

The Accounting & Payroll Manager will perform, supervise, monitor, and evaluate all day-to-day payroll activities while ensuring the integrity of the payroll system and related information in strict confidential compliance with the company's policies and established internal controls. An accounting team member will report directly to this position and be an essential part of the Finance Team.

**What you will focus on**
- Take responsibility for all payroll processing and related payments. Overseeing daily activities of the payroll function ensuring that bi-weekly payrolls are processed accurately and on time while managing a small team.
- Contribute to the Finance Team’s month end close and timely monthly financial reporting in an accurate and efficient manner.
- Contribute to building and reporting against the company’s annual labour budget.
- Drive new initiatives & improvements accurately and on timely basis.
- Maintain accurate and complete financial records.
- Prepare and present KPI reports to stakeholders.
- Hire, train, and motivate accounting staff member(s) while supervising & delegating tasks.
- Oversee and process certain bank activities and related bank reconciliations
- Assist Director of Finance with the daily banking requirements.
- Regularly produce financial reports, both at the department and company levels.
- Adhere to proper accounting methods, policies and principles.
- Collaborates with all internal members to support overall company, department goals and objectives while adhering to appropriate payroll and banking safeguards and controls.
- Responds to inquiries from the supervisor, internal managers, and employees regarding payroll topics, KPI reporting, budgeting and special reporting requests.
- Works with the finance team to ensure a clean and timely annual year end audit.
- Various other duties and projects as assigned.

**What we're looking for**
- Minimum Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field required
- Proven relevant work experience as an Accounting or Payroll Manager
- 7 to 10 years of payroll and accounting experience
- Advanced knowledge of MS Excel and MS Office products
- Working knowledge of ADP - Workforce Now essential to the success of this roll
- Working knowledge of Nav - Dynamics 365 Business Central a definite asset
- Strong leadership skills with a dedication to driving and achieving results
- Knowledge of employer relationship building and performance management techniques
- Well-developed interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
- Ability to follow through and complete overlapping projects
- Strong problem identification and problem resolution skills
- Ability to interpret and implement company policies and procedures
- As part of the employment criteria, individuals need to meet company criminal check requirements
- Must be legally authorized to work in Canada
