We have an exciting opportunity for a new grad looking to develop their HR skills in an industry-leading structural steel manufacturing company. Working as an HR Assistant you will provide a wide variety of administrative tasks in all HR functions. You will also work on various projects aligned with enhancing human resources services at SIN Structures Inc., a division of Steelcon Fabrication Inc., located in our St. Catharines, Ontario, reporting to the HR manager in Brampton.
Our HR team is a diverse group of specialized team members, and while each role has its unique focus and opportunities, all work towards the same goal - to innovate, engage and grow with Steelcon group of companies.
**As the HR Assistant, you will contribute to our team by**:
- Providing administrative support for both the HR team and clients
- Assisting with ensuring new hires are successfully onboarded and coordinate HR orientation sessions
- Assisting with benefits program answer employee questions on related enrolment/ changes and general inquiries.
- Assisting the WSIB RTW and modified duties program
- Maintaining and updating HR Database
- Updating and maintaining employee files and manage vacations, sick leave, absences, and special leaves according to the policy in effect
- Participating and supporting continuous improvement solutions for the department
- Supporting employee HSE training needs, coordinate training accordingly and evaluate the completed training process.
- Performing other related duties to ensure proper HR management
- All other duties as required.
**What you will bring to this role**:
- New grad with post-secondary diploma or degree in Business Administration with a Human Resources focus or related field from an accredited institution
- Must possess tact, diplomacy and the ability to maintain confidentiality
- Excellent customer service focus and team player
- Excellent attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and in cooperation with others
- Excellent organizational and planning skills and the ability to juggle multiple priorities
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in MS Office suite of tools
