**THE OPPORTUNITY**

The UGDSB is seeking a dynamic individual to join our People, Leadership & Culture (PLC) team in the capacity of **Administrative Officer, Teaching**. Reporting to the Staffing Supervisor, Teaching, you will provide key support contributing to the effectiveness of the staffing function for the elementary teaching employee group.

**Location**: Guelph Board Office (500 Victoria Road N., Guelph, ON)

**Salary Range**: $66,800 - $80,100 (per annum, 35 hours per week, 12 month position)

**Board Information**: 1.0 FTE; **permanent**, full-time; Administrative Employees

**Responsibilities**:

- Administer salary changes and sub-payments for elementary teachers.
- Process leave of absence requests as well as transfers, increases in time, resignations, and retirements for elementary teachers.
- Post internal and external advertisements of elementary teaching positions.
- HRIS data entry and reporting.
- Prepare new hire packages and offer letters for permanent elementary teachers.
- Compile annual seniority list for permanent elementary teachers.
- As a member of the Elementary Staffing Committee, provide key support during staffing meetings.
- Coordinate post-secondary student placements.
- Perform other duties as assigned to grow and develop as a PLC professional.

**Experience and Qualifications**:

- Post-secondary degree or diploma in Human Resources or a related discipline.
- Attained, or actively working towards, Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) designation.
- Minimum of three (3) years of human resources administrative experience, preferably with a staffing component.
- History of cultivating effective working relationships and demonstrated diplomacy in dealing with sensitive issues.
- Excellent analytical and organizational skills combined with the ability to work under pressure and to meet challenging deadlines.
- Demonstrated team player with excellent customer service skills.
- The incumbent must demonstrate initiative, sound judgement and a high degree of discretion when dealing with confidential information.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively, professionally, and courteously with all levels of staff and external contacts.
- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
- Strong attention to detail.
- Previous experience in public sector and/or unionized environments is considered an asset.
- Flexibility to accomplish other duties as assigned.
