**Coordinator, Student Affairs**:
The School of Rehabilitation Science (SRS) is dedicated to providing learner-focused patient-centered educational programs that meets the health-care needs of our communities by graduating qualified, compassionate and inquisitive evidence-based practitioners accomplished in health-care delivery and scholarship. The Student Affairs Coordinator would be working as part of the dynamic team dedicated to training students in these educational programs.

**Nature of Work**: The Student Affairs Coordinator is responsible for supporting SRS students (i.e. Physical Therapy students currently and Occupational Therapy and Speech Language Pathology students in the future) in their individual academic support and wellness, accommodations, access and referral to personal counselling, and financial aid services.

**Typical Duties or Accountabilities**:Establish and maintain professional relations with various stakeholders such as SRS students, staff, and faculty. The incumbent will work closely with various teams (administrative, leadership, clinical education, and teaching) as well as independently. The position requires the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment while balancing competing deadlines and multiple tasks.

The Student Affairs Coordinator will work collaboratively with multiple internal SRS and College of Medicine teams, University of Saskatchewan (U of S) stakeholders including **Student Affairs & Outreach**, **Student Wellness Centre**, **Student Central** and other administrative units on campus. The Student Affairs Coordinator will also work with external service providers and stakeholders and others by coordinating student referrals and ensuring that all reporting requirements are met.

**Key Areas of responsibility**:

- Work with SRS students and coordinate student intake which includes: engagement, assessment and planning, triage (including referral for services), coordinating and monitoring the services and supports provided.
- Initial contact meetings with all SRS students, with follow-up meetings as needed with individual students, student peer mentor groups and as needed with the Student Society student wellness representatives and Student Wellness Committee.
- Refer students to appropriate resources - academic counselling, career advising, personal counselling, health counselling, and financial resources.
- Respond to students who present in crisis - conduct brief intervention (counselling/coaching) to alleviate crisis and/or provide coping strategies.
- Provide group facilitation and presentations during the admission process and orientation in regards to accommodations.
- Lead student support initiatives in academic or clinical education difficulty and/or requiring accommodation due to disability, family status and/or religion.
- Deliver psychoeducational groups, workshops and other wellness promotion activities.
- Work collaboratively with the SRS Indigenous Affairs Coordinator on joint student wellness and support initiatives.
- In collaboration with **Access and Equity Services**, assist SRS students in accessing appropriate accommodations for student with identified and diagnosed health conditions.
- Assists students appearing before academic, promotions, appeals panels, and those appearing before academic and non-academic misconduct panels.
- Maintains a confidential database of student encounters in a University of Saskatchewan approved system.
- Prepares confidential regular reports of student use of student services and monthly reporting of number of student contacts, data on diversity, and concerns regarding student mistreatment, discrimination and harassment.
- Implementation of Wellness Programming for students
- Inform policy and procedure documents related to students and student processes.
- Foster and advocate for an inclusive learning environment that engages diversity and supports a positive learning environment for all students.
- Attending Student Affairs and Student Services meetings.
- Collaborate/Consult with the academic Program Chairs, Academic Affairs Chair and the Academic Lead of Clinical Education to proactively anticipate and develop resources/programs for addressing student academic and clinical placement issues.
- Attend Academic Affairs, Clinical Education Committee and Student Representative
- meetings.
- Other duties as assigned.

**Education**: A bachelor or master degree in a related field such as psychology, and/or social work.

**Experience**: At least two years of related experience is required. Experience working in an institutional or academic environment would be considered an asset. Experience working and collaborating in diverse and inclusive settings is required.
