**Manager, Clinical Affairs**:
**Primary Purpose**: Manager, Clinic Affairs is responsible to assist with the oversight of all aspect of the patient care or clinic care services offered within College of Dentistry, Dental Clinic and Pre-clinic Provide operational support, primarily to the Director, Clinical Affairs and Assistant Dean of Clinics but also to faculty and staff in the areas of clinical management.

**Nature of Work**: As a part of teaching and research, the College of Dentistry has a strong commitment to patient care and clinical experience for its students. In addition to the strong ambitious to increase our clinical and pre-clinical research portfolio. Reporting to the Director of Clinics, the Manager works with dental students, faculty, staff to support the teaching, research, and patient care functions from a coordination, administration and technical perspective. The position provides excellent, culturally responsive service to all and must have a good overall understanding of Clinic, pre-clinic and College policies and processes to appropriately meet the needs of the patients and students.

Clinics include 84 operatory general purpose Education Treatment Clinic, a 6 unit Fellowship Specialty Clinic, a 5 unit Oral Surgery Unit, and a Radiology Unit. Clinical Support Services also has associated responsibilities with the Dental Assisting Program, Dental Therapy Program and Pre-clinical Labs for first and second year dental students and Faculty Practice Clinic. Additionally, the College has several outreach clinics which the Clinical Administration office will support. Senior students from our clinical programs utilize the undergraduate clinics to provide dental treatment to patients.

**Duties/Responsibilities**:
Strategic Management and Leadership (20-30%):

- Assist with the development and implementation of efficient processes and operational workflow that foster excellent patient and student experiences.
- Work with Course Coordinators, faculty, clinic and academic staff to support teaching, research and patient care.
- Utilize Microsoft Office Suite tools to communicate, create reports, and manage operations.
- Collaboratively draft policies, procedures, and guidelines in accordance with college, university and provincial laws and policies.
- Work directly with Health Sciences and campus facilities and maintenance units to address physical asset and building functional problems as well as ongoing facilities needs related to the clinics.
- Develop, assess, and act on quality assurance measures related to clinic operations.
- Ensure that clinical operations are consistent with Accreditation expectations and clinics and staff are prepared for accreditation site visits.
- Participate in writing and provide documentation for accreditation site visits.
- Participate on College of Dentistry committees to contribute to various aspects of clinic operations and continuous improvement initiatives.

Clinical Operations (50-60%):

- Provide direction and management oversight of all operational aspects of the clinical services that support student, researchers and faculty, including logistics and patient management.
- Implement processes and procedures that promote efficient, effective, and responsible stewardship of resources.
- Demonstrate familiarity with department budgets and work collaboratively to manage and spend within allocated budgets.
- Implement inventory management systems that facilitate efficient clinic operations and fiscal responsibility.
- Manage personnel matters for all assigned staff including training, performance, and evaluation, reporting, corrective actions, and compensation.
- Lead implementation of clinic policies and procedures consistent with school, university, provincial regulatory guidelines. Ensure faculty, staff, and students comply with policies and procedures.
- Review and update the Clinic Policy & Procedures Manual annually to ensure they incorporate accurate and current information.
- Review and update the College of Dentistry Safety Manual annually to ensure they incorporate accurate and current information.
- Assure that staff receive appropriate training on changes and updates to clinic policies and procedures.
- Oversee patient relations activity, including direct management of escalated cases in collaboration with Clinic Front Office.
- Monitor patient satisfaction surveys and use data to improve clinic operations and the patient experience.
- Collaborate with Health and Safety and Facilities maintenance teams to ensure clinics maintain safe practices and operational functionality.

Business Analytics (5-10%):

- Generate clinical activity reports and make recommendations for improvements (staff, inventory, intake processes, etc.)
- Evaluate clinical data (patient visits, student experiences, ) for operational effectiveness to satisfy educational and financial goals.
