We are looking for a
**_Manager, Corporate Actuarial_**

Given the size and scope of our organization, we have the flexibility for this position to be located in the following head office locations: Toronto, London, Winnipeg._**

Are you interested in making an important contribution to the Company’s transition to IFRS 17? If so, we have a job opportunity for a Manager, Corporate Actuarial, in London, Toronto or Winnipeg within the Corporate Actuarial team.

The Corporate Actuarial Team plays a central role in actuarial oversight for Great-West Lifeco. The team leads the oversight of the valuation of insurance contract liabilities, and supporting processes, across Great-West Lifeco’s operations, as well as the analysis of the robustness of the Company’s financial condition through the FCT process. The team supports the Appointed Actuary in exercising oversight on the operation of participating policies and adjustable policies, and in preparing the annual opinions on fairness as required under the Insurance Companies Act in Canada.

IFRS 17 represents a major change in the valuation of insurance liabilities of life insurers, which will impact earnings emergence and volatility. IFRS 17 will also introduce a new presentation of insurance results, and supporting disclosures, in the financial statements, which will necessitate significant change within actuarial and accounting systems and processes.

**What you will do**
- Support the Company’s transition to IFRS 17, including:

- Analyze the implications on the Company’s balance sheet and LICAT position
- Perform IFRS 17 actuarial model reviews and readiness assessments
- Engage with regional actuarial areas on the operational considerations, such as the reporting implications of IFRS 17
- Provide assistance in other areas, as needed, such as accounting, process improvements, and systems/technology considerations
- Support the Appointed Actuary and Corporate Actuarial team through participation in actuarial investigations. Examples may include specialized internal peer reviews, providing global actuarial perspectives on regional initiatives, or investigations related to emerging trends.
- Support regulatory reporting, including the consolidation of regional results and various processes to the support the Appointed Actuary’s oversight of the methodologies and assumptions used to value actuarial liabilities.

- Fellow of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries (or nearly qualified)
- FSA/FCIA designation
