**Position Overview**:
Reporting to the Director of Communications, the Communications Specialist will play a key role in developing and managing internal messaging to engage and inform employees. The role will also involve supporting public-facing communications to enhance Flair Airlines’ brand image and media presence, handling media inquiries, and ensuring consistent messaging. Additionally, the Communications Specialist will collaborate closely with the marketing team to align communications efforts with company goals.
**Primary Job Functions**:
The duties of the **Communications Specialist **include:
- Draft and distribute media advisories, press releases, and external communications to media outlets, stakeholders, and the public
- Manage media inquiries through the media inbox, providing timely and accurate responses
- Create and distribute internal announcements, updates, and employee newsletters to enhance team engagement and communication
- Collaborate with departments to ensure alignment and consistency in internal messaging across the organization
- Oversee the publication of press releases and media advisories, including managing their upload to the company website
- Support the marketing team by assisting in the planning and execution of media-related aspects of campaigns
- Assist in planning and executing press conferences, media events, and other company-sponsored activities
- Support the Director of Communications in managing sensitive, time-sensitive communications during crisis situations
- Monitor and analyze media coverage, providing insights and recommendations to assess the effectiveness of communication strategies
**Qualifications & Requirements**:
- ** Education**:
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, English, Political Science, or a related field
- ** Experience**:
- 2-4 years of experience in communications, ideally within media, marketing, or advertising, either in-house or at an agency
- Proven experience in both internal communications and engaging with external stakeholders
- Demonstrated ability to plan and execute both strategic and tactical communications initiatives
- ** Skills & Abilities**:
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Strong ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment with quick turnaround times
- Creative and solution-oriented with a keen eye for detail
- Capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining high standards of quality and accuracy
