**Job Summary**:
In this role you will be reporting to the Director, Communications. You will help develop internal and external communications materials, such as online campaigns and presentation decks for in-person events. This role will be the main point person between BCIB and the communications teams from the projects we work on. The Communications Specialist will be responsible for BCIB’s social media channels and will support the Director with government and media relations duties, as needed.

**Essential Duties & Responsibilities**:

- Contribute to the ongoing management of BCIB’s online presence, including all social media channels, web pages, and other digital communications.
- Develop and implement internal and external communications plans.
- Contribute to the organization’s ongoing government relations duties.
- Copywrite and coordinate the delivery of various documents including reports, issue notes, briefing notes, letters to stakeholders, and internal memos, among others.
- Provide website administration and support, including coordinating website updates as necessary.
- Project manage video and photography production, including coordinating across internal departments, with external partners, and with contracted service providers.
- Represent BCIB at construction project communications working groups to facilitate communications and stakeholder strategy across organizations.
- Create and deliver company media monitoring reports.
- Coordinate and implement creative collateral that communicates BCIB’s mandate and achievements, such as social media content, informational posters and pamphlets, and project reports.
- Interview workers and stakeholders to develop content including full-length articles as required.

**Qualifications & Experience**:

- Post-secondary degree or diploma in public relations or communications, or equivalent education and related experience.
- At least three years related communications experience.
- Public sector experience is an asset.
- Experience developing and implementing strategic internal and external communications plans.
- Previous public sector experiences an asset.
- Excellent plain language writing skills, including strong copywriting, and copyediting skills.
- Media monitoring and media relations experience.
- Social media management experience, including content creation, strategic planning, and comment moderation.
- A track record of producing presentations, including the ability to adjust tone depending on context and audience.
- Experience developing corporate and public communication materials.
- Computer proficiency with the Microsoft Suite of programs.
- Computer proficiency with creative programs such as Canva. Experience with the Adobe Creative Suite is considered an asset.
- Experience with web content development using WordPress is considered an asset.
- Experience in community development, including engaging underrepresented groups is considered an asset.
