**Position**: Care for Newcomer Children (CNC) Worker

**Contract type**: Regular, full-time

**Start Date**: ASAP

**Location**: Brampton location

**Rate**: $20.25 per hour + Extended health benefits and 4% vacation pay

**Hours**: 27.50 per week.

**Position Type**:This position is part of the bargaining unit.

**Vaccination Policy**: All MNS employees are required to be fully vaccinated or submit documentation regarding Human Rights exemption.

**Duties**:

- Implements activities and programs to meet the complex needs of children.
- Ensures that all programs encourage and promote the physical, cognitive, social and emotional development of all children.
- Prepares and maintains the program area (e.g., creative arts center, cognitive area, dramatic play, large motor activities).
- Ensures that program set up, delivery and documentation meet CMAS guidelines
- Keeps accurate attendance, records, and maintains children files.
- Recommends the purchase of toys, equipment and other resource material needed in the childminding program.
- Maintains, cleans, and disinfects children’s toys, furniture, and shelving area following latest procedures and policies from public health and Region of Peel COVID 19 measures.
- Daily COVID 19 screening of children and parents.
- Adjust programming based on COVID 19 measures set by the province and Region of Peel.

**Qualifications**:

- Early Childhood Education diploma or equivalent as deemed by the Association for Early Childhood Education, Ontario.
- Must be a Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE).
- Minimum two (2) years of experience working with newcomer preschool and toddlers.
- Knowledge of the Care for Newcomer Children model. Sensitivity and understanding of issues faced by newcomers to Canada.
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent English communication and interpersonal skills. Fluency in a second language will be an asset.
- Demonstrated sensitivity to the needs of immigrants and refugees’ children.
- Must have a valid CPR/First Aid training Certification.
- Must provide record of immunization and TB test results as mandated for the Early Childhood Educators (ECEs)
- Upon successful hire, must provide a valid Vulnerable Sector Screening (VSS) police check obtained within the past six (6) months.
- Upon successful hire, must provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination or documentation regarding Human Rights exemption.
