**About the Position**

This key position plays a pivotal role in shaping and delivering exceptional camp program experiences for children. At SLSC, we offer engaging, week-long summer camps (July and August) and day camps during the school year (September to June) on school breaks and PD days. This position is responsible for the development, execution, and evaluation of high-quality camp programming that meets the needs of our community. The Camp Coordinator ensures the safe, consistent, and efficient operation of all camp activities by collaborating closely with other SLSC departments, such as Programs, Guest Services, and Health and Safety. A strong focus on excellence in both internal and external customer experiences is essential to this role.

**Job Type**: Seasonal, Hourly (possibility of continuing year-round part-time)

**Summer Term**: Up to 40 hours/week from May 1 - Aug 31 (possible casual hours for preliminary camp planning prior to May 1)

**Specific responsibilities**:
**Program Development & Facilitation**:

- Design, implement, facilitate, and evaluate engaging camp programming for children ages 6-7, 8-10, or 11-13.
- Ensure programming supports physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development while respecting cultural diversity and inclusivity.
- Lead hands-on activities that encourage creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving.

**Staff Oversight & Development**:

- Supervise and guide Camp Leaders and support volunteer involvement (Leaders in Training - LIT).
- Assist the Programs Supervisor with staff recruitment, training, professional development, mentorship, and performance management.
- Coordinate staff scheduling and ensure adequate coverage for effective program delivery.

**Customer Service & Communication**:

- Serve as the primary point of contact for parents, staff, and other departments.
- Address customer inquiries and concerns with professionalism and a customer-focused mindset.

**Safety & Logistics**:

- Ensure the safety and well-being of all participants and staff in the camp environment.
- Manage facility bookings and oversee the setup, takedown, storage, and maintenance of camp-related equipment and supplies.
- Enforce SLSC rules and promote safe work practices.

**Program Evaluation & Improvement**:

- Regularly assess camp programs and provide recommendations for enhancements.
- Prepare and present progress reports, highlighting successes, challenges, and resource needs.

**Additional Duties**:

- Purchase camp-related equipment and materials within budget.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of camp guidelines and manuals.
- Take part in hands-on play and create an engaging, positive atmosphere for participants.
- Support additional tasks as required to meet operational needs.

**Qualifications**:

- 1-2 years of leadership or supervisory experience (formal or informal).
- 1-2 years of experience in developing and delivering sport and recreation camp programming.
- Proven ability to manage staff and ensure participant safety.
- Current Standard/Intermediate First Aid & CPR-C certification (mandatory).
- Strong proficiency in MS Office and comfort with technology/software tools.
- Clear RCMP Vulnerable Sector Check.
- Availability from May 1 to August 31 to support operational needs.
- Physical capability to work in an active environment, including standing, walking, bending, lifting (up to 50 lbs.), and other physical tasks.
