**Position Summary**:
The OSC Program Supervisor position supports optimal delivery of BGC Cochrane & Area Out of School Care Programs (OSC) through direct program delivery and mentorship of team members. In addition to participating in program delivery as a Child Development Mentor, the Site Supervisor will also provide expertise, experience, leadership and skills that contribute to the efficient operation of BGC Cochrane & Area OSC programs based on areas/locations of need.

**DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES**

**Prepare Children for Success**
- Plan, participate in, and oversee the delivery of OSC programs (including summer camp), and all activities that support child development
- Establish program objectives consistent with organizational goals and mission
- Oversee the provision of day-to-day program activities in accordance with established licensing and organizational goals
- Demonstrate positive leadership to model appropriate conduct, safety practices, and program planning/documentation to support the development of members
- Take the lead in and oversee the delivery of engaging and developmentally appropriate programs

**Program Development and Implementation**
- Plan activities that reflect the needs, interests, and abilities of the children attending the program and document outcomes with particular focus on Flight curricular goals
- Ensure that program staff understand and effectively communicate standards of program and that they have the tools and resources to be informed, confident, and successful in program delivery
- Work in collaboration with Management & Program Coordinator to:

- Provide input for staff schedule/communicate & fill gaps, assist with planning for PD days and summer camps in accordance with program budget
- Support Program Coordinator to plan out of school care and summer camps & maintain related documentation
- Act as point of contact for health and safety inspections and program staff health and safety training
- Conduct consistent evaluation of OSC/Summer Camp programs and confirm that programs respond to member needs and address their gender and cultural diversity
- Cultivate creative options for program delivery and use of resources to deliver a superior program
- Consult and remain current on the BGC Canada national programs and initiatives and how to incorporate and blend National strategy with local community needs based on support from leadership team (Coordinator & Manager)

**Supervision**
- Allocate and monitor work assigned to OSC program staff, providing ongoing feedback and regular performance appraisal
- Oversee the accuracy of staff time through daily review
- Identify and support training and development opportunities
- Support program staff by encouraging and listening to feedback, suggestions and idea sharing
- Provide Program Coordinator & Manager of Licensed Programs with current updates on the OSC program and staff performance
- Ensure productive and effective performance by all program staff and volunteers using a positive & strength-based approach

**Community Relations and Relationship Building**
- Lead parent communication and actively seek feedback from parents about program delivery
- Maintain close, daily contact with Club staff, members, and discuss issues, explain or interpret policies and guidelines
- Participate in BGC Cochrane & Area events

**QUALIFICATIONS**

**Education and Experience**
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in Early Learning and Childcare **is preferred**
- 3-5 years of experience working with children, youth and families is preferred
- Experience in a supervisory role in a program setting is required
- A unique and creative approach to out of school care program development and delivery
- Knowledge & understanding of the Alberta Child Care Licensing Regulation & current best practice for Early Learning program delivery
- Knowledge of health and safety practices in a child care setting
- Standard First Aid and CPR

- Strong verbal communication with the ability to lead and effectively manage positive parent communication
- Knowledge and understanding of child development, child guidance practices
- Strong ability to uphold and ensure staff compliance with licensing regulation
- Demonstrates ability to be a positive role model for staff and clients (families and children)
- Ability to approach challenging situations with tact and diplomacy
- Demonstrate professionalism and discretion with confidential information
- Exercise good judgment and problem solving ability with a focus on solutions

**Additional Requirements**
- Upon hiring, provision of clean Criminal Record and Child Welfare Intervention Check
- Ability to work flexible shifts, some evening and weekend work may be needed
- Flexibility and willingness to provide support to and collaborate with other Program Coordinators
