**Please Note**: The assignment in July may not be identical to the assignment in this posted position. Summer school programs are contingent upon student enrolment. If, on or around June 27, 2025, there are insufficient class numbers for this assignment the course will be cancelled, and the teaching contract will be rescinded. Teachers will be paid in accordance with the Collective Agreement **(Article B.29)**. By accepting this assignment, teachers do not receive experience or earn seniority or aggregate months of service towards conversions to a continuing contract (B status).

**Required Abilities, Qualifications and Experience**:

- extensive academic training, professional preparation, and qualifications in teaching all areas of this assignment
- knowledge of and demonstrated ability to implement teaching practices that align with the Professional Standards for BC Educators.
- successful experience in teaching Summer Learning courses is an asset

Extensive academic training, professional preparation, and qualifications in teaching Photography at the Middle School level.
- Formal undergraduate or post-graduate studies in Photography, Visual Arts, or related fields.
- Demonstrated competence in teaching digital and traditional photography at the Middle School level.
- Proven ability to teach a variety of photography techniques, including digital editing, composition, lighting, and creative expression.
- Experience with a range of photographic equipment and editing software, and the ability to teach their use to students.
- Understanding of visual storytelling and the integration of photography with other media arts.
- Demonstrated ability to integrate the First Peoples Principles of Learning into the Photography curriculum.
- Currently providing direct instruction and support to Middle School students in Photography or related arts.
- Demonstrated ability to differentiate instruction to accommodate diverse learning needs and abilities.
- Proven experience in embedding Indigenous perspectives and culturally responsive practices into the curriculum.
- Demonstrated understanding of Middle School Philosophy and effective classroom management techniques.
- Ability to use a variety of teaching strategies to engage all students and foster a creative learning environment.
- Willingness to provide recommendations to schools about student achievement at the end of the course.
- Demonstrated commitment to using technology to enhance visual arts instruction and communication with parents.
- Demonstrated ability to assess student progress through both formative and summative assessment practices.
- Commitment to fostering student creativity and artistic growth through project-based and hands-on learning.
- Excellent communication skills with students, parents, and other staff members.
- Demonstrated ability to work as a strong, collaborative team member and participate in professional learning communities.
