**Assistant Financial Controller**

**Reporting to the CFO**

**Location: Etobicoke - flexible to travel to other company sites.**

**Job Summary**:
**Key Responsibilities**:
**General Accounting & Financial Reporting**
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with ASPE or IFRS.
- Prepare vendor cheques on timely basis.
- Manage full-cycle accounting, including journal entries, GL reconciliations, and accruals.
- Perform variance analysis and prepare detailed financial reports for management.

**Cost Accounting & Inventory**
- Analyze and maintain standard costs for raw materials, packaging, and finished goods.
- Monitor inventory transactions and work with production and warehouse teams to ensure accuracy.
- Reconcile inventory sub-ledgers and investigate variances between physical and system inventory.

**Budgeting, Forecasting & Analysis**
- Assist with annual budgeting and periodic forecasting processes.
- Provide operational and financial analysis to support strategic business decisions.

**Internal Controls & Compliance**
- Support the development and maintenance of internal controls to ensure accuracy, compliance, and audit readiness.
- Assist with external audits, bank reporting, and tax filings

**Leadership & Collaboration**
- Act as a financial liaison between accounting, operations, and supply chain teams.
- Supervise and mentor junior accounting staff or clerks as needed.
- Participate in ERP improvements and help optimize financial workflows (e.g., accounts payable/receivable automation, costing modules).

**Qualifications**:

- CPA designation (or near completion) is an asset.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally in a food manufacturing or CPG (consumer packaged goods) environment.
- Strong knowledge of standard cost accounting, inventory valuation, and BOM costing.
- Hands on experience with QuickBooks
- Proficient in Excel, financial modeling, and data analysis tools.
- Excellent attention to detail and analytical thinking.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to communicate financial concepts clearly to non-financial stakeholders.

Pay: $70,000.00-$80,000.00 per year
