**JOB PURPOSE**:
Contribute to the research and development of our client’s early stage Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients and intermediates through the provision of analytical testing and method development.

**JOB RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Independently perform analytical testing of in-process checks, raw materials, intermediates and final products as part of research projects teams under the direction of research project group leaders
- Develop analytical methods in collaboration with members of a research project group
- Document experimental results in notebook records and as part of method or other technical reports
- Prepare protocols and reports for method development under the direction of more senior analysts and research project group leaders
- Contribute to the review of analytical data generated from developing methods
- Work as an effective team member to meet departmental goals, sharing knowledge with team members
- Provide guidance and perform peer reviews of colleague’s analytical chemistry
- Understand and comply, as a project requires, with current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) and Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) guidelines and procedures according to R+D Manuals and applicable Torcan Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s)
- Meet or exceed 80% productivity in achieving sales targets
- Participate in opportunities to develop and disseminate a current knowledge of chemistry and technology
- Promote and ensure safe and clean lab operations
- Perform other departmental tasks such as cleaning, supply ordering, assist with instrumentation training and maintenance, etc.

**EDUCATIONAL AND PROFESSIONAL ATTAINMENT**:

- B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Chemistry

**JOB RELATED WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIRED**:

- 2-3 years’ experience in analytical chemistry and within a pharmaceutical company preferred

**SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE**:

- Understanding and knowledge of the principles and techniques of analytical chemistry including wet chemistry (e.g. KF, titration)
- Understanding and skills in operating analytical chemistry instrumentation (e.g. HPLC, GC)
- Experience operating in a cGMP environment is an asset
