**THE OPPORTUNITY**
As a Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) Assistant, you will provide essential support to the MRI Technologists by assisting with patient preparation, equipment handling, and maintaining a safe and efficient environment within the MRI unit.
Your role is crucial in ensuring smooth operation and high-quality imaging services, contributing to excellent patient care and efficient workflow.
You will work under the guidance of the MRI Technologists, ensuring that all tasks are performed in line with safety protocols, professional standards, and organizational guidelines.
Your work will help facilitate a positive patient experience while maintaining the operational standards of the MRI unit.
You will also support the administrative and operational aspects of the department as required.

Job Requirements:
**KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES & RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Supporting and promoting the mission and vision of the hospital in interactions with patients, staff, and the general public.
- Assisting with the day-to-day operations of the MRI department, including organizing and executing additional tasks as required.
- Ensuring prompt and safe service delivery that meets accuracy, reliability, and quality management system standards.
- Preparing incident reports as needed, following the requirements of the quality management system.
- Participating in the implementation, monitoring, and reporting of Quality Control and Quality Improvement programs as part of the quality management system.
- Completing both urgent and non-urgent CD disk requests in line with departmental policies and procedures.
- Participating in the orientation of new staff members.
- Attending departmental meetings and contributing to discussions.
- Developing and maintaining positive working relationships with staff, physicians, volunteers, and patients.
- Fostering a positive and collaborative climate within the department.
- Maintaining good personal health and regular attendance.
- Preparing patients for their MRI exams by providing necessary forms and ensuring they change into appropriate hospital gowns.
- Assisting patients with form completion if needed.
- Ensuring patients have removed all required items for their MRI scan (e.g., jewelry, piercings, medical devices, clothing with metal).
- Facilitating the smooth flow of patients in and out of the scanner room.
- Maintaining patient and hospital confidentiality at all times.
- Assisting the MRI Technologist in the scanner room by helping with patient positioning and ensuring proper placement for exams.
- Ensuring requisitions are accounted for and properly documented.
- Preparing IV sets and ensuring readiness for patient procedures.
- Ordering, stocking, and managing necessary supplies for the department.
- Folding and stocking linens and disposing of dirty linens as per hospital protocols.
- Preparing and cleaning stretchers for the next day's use.
- Ensuring only MRI-safe equipment is used in the MRI environment.
- Ensuring the safety of individuals in the MRI environment by restricting access to the MRI room without the supervision of an MRI Technologist.
- Ensuring the safety in MRI zone by making sure no one enters without the supervision of an MRI Tech and only MRI safe equipment is used when entering the zone. Remember: The magnet is always on
- Conducting screening calls to patients to verify readiness for MRI procedures and ensure compliance with safety requirements.
- Lifting and transferring patients in accordance with hospital safety standards and protocols, ensuring patient safety and comfort during the process.
- Performing other duties as assigned by the Diagnostic Imaging leadership and quality team.

**QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE**
- Completion, or in progress, of a college level diploma or university degree in a healthcare related field is required.
- Minimum of one (1) year experience in health care setting is required.
- Experience working in Diagnostic Imaging Department is preferred.
- Patient Preparation and Safety in MRI Certificate, preferred
- Physically able to push, pull and lift up to 25kg, with a focus on patient safety and comfort.
- Working knowledge of standards of practice for related field
- Able to work independently and co-operatively as part of a team
- Recent satisfactory attendance record with no recent disciplinary events.
