**THE OPPORTUNITY**

As a member of the healthcare interdisciplinary team, the **Medical Laboratory Assistant **is responsible for performing detailed functions to support patient care and facilitate the execution and reporting of laboratory tests at Georgian Bay General Hospital.

Job Requirements:
**REQUIREMENTS**
- Medical Laboratory Technician Certification or equivalent
- Effectively perform venipuncture and ECG on adult and paediatric patients
- Strong keyboarding and computer skills
- Ability to work with automation, perform maintenance, specimen preparation, specimen loading, and other laboratory duties under the guidance of a technologist
- Knowledge of laboratory safety protocols
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- High level of accuracy in work
- Ability to work effectively independently as well as part of a team
- Demonstrated satisfactory work performance and attendance history
- Commitment to delivering an exceptional experience for staff and clients within a dynamic and challenging healthcare environment
- Previous related experience in a hospital setting is preferred

**ASSETS**
- Bilingual in English and French
- Experience with Meditech Expanse system

**HOURS OF WORK**
Temporary part time. scheduled up to 24 hours a week. Must be available to work shifts including days, evenings, nights and weekends. Shifts and hours may change according to departmental requirements and as per the OPSEU collective agreement.

- Hourly rate of pay is $30.49-$35.14/hr
