Summer Child & Youth Counsellor

**Position**: 2 CYC/SWSB Positions to Co-facilitate Camp Unity with ROCK

**Description of Camp**:
Camp Unity Halton offers a supportive, fun and social environment for children/youth aged 7-18, who reside in Halton with FASD or possible FASD

**Dates**:
UMAB training is required and provided (if needed) on June 17 and 19 (release from HDSB job duties)

**Required training and set-up**: July 8-10 (9-4)

Week 1 July 15-19 (8:00-4:00) AND Week 2 July 22-26 (8:00-4:00)

**Location**: Location for camp St. Anne's Catholic School. Location for UMAB training TBD

**Requirements**:
Current UMAB training or willing to participate in training on June 17 & 19

Be willing and able to swim with students at minimum twice weekly

**Key Responsibilities**:
Co-facilitate camp with ROCK partners

Provide comprehensive, culturally responsive, identify affirming support to students

FASD informed

Maintain Child and Youth Counsellor Standards of Practice for record keeping and service delivery as per HDSB

Child and Youth Counsellors will provide service in accordance with the OACYC Code of Ethics

**Qualifications**:
CYC designation or SBSW

Current UMAB training

**Knowledge**:
Demonstrated knowledge and experience providing group support and strategies to promote and support student well-being

Demonstrated experience leading/initiating student learning related to student well-being

Fluid use of asset-based language

Staff do go swimming with campers 2x / week.

Plus - Creative in group programming and FASD informed.

**Appointments are conditional upon**:
Provision of an original copy of a criminal background check with vulnerable sector screening dated within 6 months

Agreement to comply with the Board’s policies, procedures and code of conduct
