The Alberta Crown Prosecution Service (ACPS) prosecutes persons charged with _Criminal Code, Youth Criminal Justice Act_, and provincial statute offences. The ACPS promotes safe communities by vigorously prosecuting cases involving serious and violent crime, working with individuals and organizations in the community to identify and implement improved and alternative approaches to the administration of criminal justice. In addition, the ACPS develops criminal law policy for the province and supports criminal law consultation with other levels of government.

**Role Responsibilities**:

If so, the Regional Prosecutions Team within the Alberta Crown Prosecution Service (ACPS) has exciting opportunities for Associate Chief Crown Prosecutor positions. This role may be available in several locations, including Red Deer, Wetaskiwin, Peace River, Fort Saskatchewan, Slave Lake, St. Paul, Grande Prairie, Medicine Hat, Hinton, Lethbridge, and the Calgary and Edmonton - Rural and Regional Response Offices (CaRRRO/ERRRO). This is a senior leadership position and is part of the management team of the Regional Crown Prosecutors' Office.
Reporting to the Chief Crown Prosecutor South, Regional Prosecutions and operating within the legislative, policy and budgetary framework governing the criminal justice system in Alberta, the Associate Chief Crown Prosecutor, Regional Prosecutions provides direction and leadership on matters relating to the administration of criminal justice in all regional areas. These include Red Deer, Wetaskiwin, Peace River, Fort Saskatchewan, Slave Lake, St. Paul, Grande Prairie, Medicine Hat, Hinton, Lethbridge, and the Calgary and Edmonton - Rural and Regional Response Offices (CaRRRO/ERRRO). This includes ensuring adequate professional and support staffing of the Regional Offices, employee relations, and performance management, administration of discretionary rewards and benefits, staff development, liaison and/or integration of systems with police and investigative agencies, the courts. As well as other Divisions of Alberta Justice, other Departments of the Government of Alberta, community groups and agencies, participation in law reform activities, providing legal advice, communication support and strategy to Chief Crown Prosecution, Regions.
- Lead and manage, in collaboration with the Chief Crown Prosecutor, Regional, the operation of the Regional Prosecutions Offices, including implementation of the Criminal Justice Division Operational Plan and the Regional Crown Prosecutors Office Implementation Plan.
- Provide timely information, advice, recommendations and communication strategies to the Chief Crown Prosecutor, Regional, in relation to ongoing criminal and quasi-criminal litigation.
- Assist in leading, coaching and mentoring a team of Deputy Chief Crown Prosecutors and Senior Counsel to achieve operational and business plan goals and link program activities within the department.
- Collaborate with Alberta government departments, including Alberta Justice staff, police and investigative agencies, the courts, community groups and organizations in order to effectively and efficiently administer criminal justice.
- Work to ensure that the regional Crown offices have a workforce in place to meet business demands for today and into the future through effective attraction and retention strategies, career/succession management, and access to appropriate mentors.
