Dufflet Pastries is an award-winning bakery and food manufacturer located in the west end of Toronto. We are currently seeking an experienced **HR Generalist **to join our team.
This position will be the lead HR professional for a growing manufacturing company. By providing professional advice and service to management on daily employee relations and performance management issues, you will be required to:
- Support leadership team in developing a culture that embraces diversity, inclusion and respect in the workplace
- Provide coaching and counselling with regards to career development, succession planning and training, disciplinary actions, etc.
- Manage temporary placement agency hiring processes, coordinating requirements for various manufacturing and office related roles
- Prepare contracts and agreements, termination and severance letters, employment letters, and provide consultative service to managers
- Design and implement employment policies, identifying methods to improve procedures in alignment with operational best practice and legislative requirements
- Evaluate job requirements and expectations, managing performance standards through defined job descriptions; create succession plans with employees and evaluate promotions as deemed appropriate
- Conduct full-cycle recruitment initiatives as it pertains to office personnel, sales and marketing, production staff as well as at the management level; analyze staffing logistics and make recommendations with regards to recruitment initiatives
- Conduct in-house training in support of internal initiatives, Ministry of Labour requirements, etc.
- Facilitate employee orientation processes in support of onboarding success of new hires and temporary staff
- Manage Return to Work program through early and frequent communication with employees, and discussions surrounding accommodation requests; maintain regular contact with WSIB Case Manager and ensure proper documentation; ensure employee participation of RTW plan and manage ongoing communication with expected duration
- Provide information to employees with regards to employee safety, welfare, health and wellness, group health benefits, performance management, etc.
- Ensure performance reviews are conducted on a consistent basis
- Facilitate monthly employee relations meetings and ensure leadership team responds to matters in a timely fashion, executing on activities to improve production and the work environment overall
- Conduct employee satisfaction surveys; assess and monitor change management and align strategies with the company’s overall vision and goals
- Manage employee group health benefits, continuing education requirements, workplace morale, etc.
- Maintain confidential employee personnel records and documentation
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources Management or related discipline
- 5+ years experience working in human resources
- CHRP designation preferred, at minimum
- Experience in a multi-shift manufacturing facility
- Working knowledge of ESA, OHSA and legal requirements and legislation
- Ensure legal compliance by monitoring and implementing applicable employment standards and regulations; conduct investigations and maintain records
- Proven experience in health and safety while managing WSIB cases and employee return to work programs
- Sound judgement and problem solving abilities; determining issues at the root cause and finding viable solutions in support of the team and company
- High level of professionalism, decorum and discretion
- Excellent computer skills; familiarity with MS Office suite, HRIS, database and records management
- Strong command of the English language, both in written format and verbally; excellent interpersonal relationship building skills to build trust and rapport with management and employees
