**Seasonal Guest Experience Associate (Campground Attendant)**

Métis Crossing is Alberta’s first major Métis destination where we share and celebrate the Métis culture with all people With their unique designs that combine both traditional and contemporary Métis craftmanship, The Lodge and the Gathering Centre at Métis Crossing are special blends of comfort, culture, and Métis history. Directly adjacent to the Cultural Gathering Centre, our 40-room boutique Lodge offers scenic views overlooking the majestic North Saskatchewan River, the very route used by our Métis ancestors as they gathered here to trade. The Cultural Gathering Centre is the base for all our cultural and educational programs. The Lodge offers a Bistro for coffee and express breakfast, as well as a Lounge for cocktails and light snacks. Together they are an ideal location for corporate and government retreats as well as family gatherings.
**The Opportunity**
Métis Crossing seeks a dynamic team member for the position of “Summer Campground Attendant”. This is a summer term position with an end date of August 31st, 2025. The successful applicant will be responsible for contributing to the professional presentation and appearance of Métis Crossing. Basic knowledge, understanding and experience in grounds keeping, gardening, and building maintenance is preferred.
Working with the Facilities Manager, the Summer Campground Attendant is responsible for the custodial duties of the campground and ensuring that guests receive the fastest service possible in a safe and courteous manner. The Summer Campground Attendant will work to ensure the campground, and common public areas and campsites are cleaned, sanitized, and properly maintained to optimally share the Métis story with the public. While your primary responsibilities will align with those of Campground Attendant, you will be required to assist with other duties as needed to support the organization's operational needs.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Work closely with customers to ensure satisfaction and a positive experience.
- Check campers in and out, maintaining clear communication with the front desk.
- Receive and direct guest reservations, guiding patrons to their assigned campsites.
- Verify payments by checking receipts and campground passes
- Ensure campground rules are respected and enforce them as necessary.
- Perform outdoor maintenance tasks, including lawn cutting, weed trimming, garbage collection, and recycling management.
- Safely and effectively operate equipment, such as tractors, lawnmowers, utility vehicles (side-by-sides), and chainsaws.
- Prepare campsites by cleaning, collecting garbage, sanitizing washrooms, porta potties, and shower facilities before new arrivals.
- Sell and deliver firewood to customers, monitor firewood inventory, and maintain an organized and clean woodshed.
- Sell and stage camp equipment rental kits, ensuring all rentals are accounted for during customer checkouts.
- Assist the Facilities Maintenance Department with tasks as required.
- Be available for day and evening shifts as needed.
- Report any issues or defective equipment to the supervisor promptly.
- Adhere to Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) regulations at all times.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
**Preferred Qualifications**
- Previous experience as a Campground Attendant
- Knowledge and adherence to safe working practices
- Knowledge of Alberta history and cultural diversity
- Knowledge of Alberta Métis
**Skills & Competencies**
- Strong oral communication skills to interact effectively with guests and team members.
- Experience working with diverse audiences, including varying cultural backgrounds and ages.
- Flexibility to adapt to changes in schedules and assignments.
- Attention to detail in all aspects of the role.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team setting while taking direction effectively.
- Physical capability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in a physically demanding environment.
**Other Requirements**
- Ability to work on-site at Métis Crossing in Smoky Lake.
- Clear Criminal Record Check.
- Clear Driver’s Abstract.
**Employment Details**:
Schedule will be based on a 40-hour work week, and will include weekdays, weekends, and holidays.
